How many miles can I expect to get

Serious question here…I have a 2015 4x4 SR5 Crew that I bought brand new. Every truck that I bought before that (not Toyotas) I would trade at about 70-85,000 miles. Not because I was having problems, but because I did not want to start having problems. I now have 168,000 miles and I never have any worries about any trips that I go on. I cannot say that I would feel the same if I have a ford or Chevrolet. This truck never gives me any problem, it just runs. I have debated trading for something with better gas mileage but the first time some sensor comes on in the new vehicle I buy will piss me off because I just never have problems. REALLY… How many miles can I get on this thing before I should expect to start having some problems. The dealer that I bought it from has serviced it at every 5,000 mile increment since I bought it.

Before you start having *any* problems…. ~ 200k if you don’t use it hard. After that, if you keep the maintenance up, should be minor this and that. I think you can count on 300k without major repairs. Obviously, the clear coat sucks on these, so your paint will dull if you’re in a sunny state. Rust could be a problem in a wet (road salt) state… but those aren’t related to inherent durability. You’ve got a lot more good miles ahead!

240k on my 2014 and I beat on it pretty hard. Keep up with your maintenance and it'll last a long time.

Even if you have minor issues (expected with something that depreciates in value and life), you'd still be doing great. No one except yourself can decide when to trade it in and spend your own money on a new vehicle. That's your choice.

Not same gen but my 02 has 318k and it’s only had ball joints, 02 sensors, timing belt x3 and rear shocks. Would drive it to California today with the family

I'm kinda in the same situation as the OP, except mine is a 2nd Gen with197k virtually trouble-free miles.

I keep taking mine into my local mechanic asking him to start replacing stuff before it brakes; and he just keeps telling me I'm driving the most reliable trouble-free truck on the road and not to worry about it.

I plan on taking mine on a 4K road trip from Phoenix to Canada this summer and all I'm going to do beforehand is change the oil, clean the air filters and put on new wiper blades.

Now I'm worried I wasted money on the wiper blades. This is summer. It never rains.

Don't worry, it'll undoubtedly rain here when you, @TaquitoBandito and @Azblue come up to rescue @Outbound and take him home to @War Machine.

There are credible reported Tundras going 1 million miles in "hot shot" service.

    Research Victor Shepard.

The number of hysterically high mile toyotas across all models is insane.

You'll have a few minor issues along the way but the core function of your truck, provided good maintenance, will run an astonishingly long time. Toyota trucks last longer than you care to own them.

On 2.5 gen here is a non exhaustive list of minor things that have been known to occur

    water pump
    starter
mid engine heat exchanger leak (aluminum manifold under intake)
timing chain tensioner on driver side (gets a bit loose, not a huge immediate concern. there is some decent correlation to this being caused by high oil change intervals or crappy oil)
Cam tower oil leak (in grand scheme not a huge deal and your truck will still run)
    Seal leaks on transfer case
    Probably forgetting a few...

This is on top of the normal wear and tear of most vehicles.

If you anticipate and even plan for these items it turns them into a fairly minor inconvenience all things considered.

Their cars too. The only issue my dad had on his 2003 Matrix in 16 years was a slightly leaky clutch master cylinder due to lots of driving in stop and go traffic.

    For sure.

Matt Farah's Lexus LS stunt to get to 1 million miles was amusing as hell.

I've known no less than 4 people who had 500,000 mile camry's that were still used as daily drivers. One got taken out in a severe hail storm in Lubbock Texas. Insurance scrapped it but it still ran.

1.5 million mile tacoma This Toyota Tacoma Has Racked Up 1.52 Million Miles (motor1.com)

And I've lost count of how many 3rd gen 4runners are verifiably above 700K miles.

I had secondary injection air pumps fail and truck went into limp. Had to get it serviced at dealer. It was under a recall. Also had transmission develop rumble strip. Had to flush transmission to get rid of problem.

Both issues happened before 100k miles. I'm now on 128k and so far nothing else. I do hear some very faint distant whirring somewhere in front when driving around 55. I'm very gentle with my truck. Single owner, never been in crunch accidents.

Also, minor issues. Rear driver side door lock only opens using power switch or main door key. Lock flipper borked. Also tailgate lock doesn't work. If I lock using the key, I have to take her apart to unlock. Door latches fine though.
