So I'm on a turnaround working nights, when I leave the plant in the morning with about 100 or so other trucks and cars, I notice my rear window hasn't even started to defrost yet, where as other makes and models are almost completely defrosted. Alot of these vehicles are started after I start my truck, and I turn on my defroster immediately. It takes several minutes to defrost. Kinda irritating when I'm trying to get out of the parking lot before alot of people but have to wait and get stuck in all the traffic because I can't see. I usually just roll my back window down to see so I can get ahead of the traffic, But damn its cold some mornings! Anyone else's defroster take awhile?

Try a remote start to get the truck running and warm sooner

Not a bad idea. Whats the range on those? And could I turn on my rear window and side mirror defrosters with it?

Pretty much any remote start these days has an add-on that allows starting from an app on your cell. So technically unlimited range. The truck will then start in what mode it was left in, so the only thing to remember is to set it how you want prior to getting out

Nice!! The cell phone app for remote start would be a dream. I'll look more into this!

I did think the defroster on mine is weak. Can't remember which now but it only works well either in the middle or on the sides and the rest seems to stay frosted up. Compare that to the K2 Sierras we have at work that will have snow and ice boiling off the back window in a matter of minutes (which may be why their rear windows leak, but I digress).

I'm not sure how much I'll run it now, though, given that I put a canopy on last spring.

I have no idea how long it takes for mine to defrost. Ask me again in January, after we've had a frost. :D
