I usually mount my phone on the vent to the right of the steering wheel. In this position I can look at it occasionally without my eyes straying too far from the windshield. My 2007's gear shifter is on the steering column and when in "Drive" completely blocks my phone. I don't want my phone lower, because then my eyes will have to travel a lot further away from my windshield to look at the phone. Even for a second this is too long. So, does anyone else have a gear shifter on the steering column and where do you mount your phone?

About three years ago I went as far as installing a Bluetooth capable head unit along with a magnetized suction cup holder in my '07, it kind of worked but was more of a PITA for me. So I removed the suction cup magnetized holder, and stopped using Bluetooth. The phone sits in a side pocket on my console organizer while I am driving, leave a voice mail or send me a text - I'll respond when I am not driving.
