How do you have your tow mirrors adjusted?

Hi. My first truck with tow mirrors. Been messing around trying to figure out which adjustments I like the best. For some reason, the little spotter mirror mess with my peripherals when I'm backing in to places and focusing on the main mirrors.

Just curious how you guys have yours set up.

I don't have any plans to tow anything...since I don't have anything to tow.

The tow mirrors suck. They take getting used to because the small section is way too small. Ford wins in this department...and Dodge, well... Bullwinkle.

I just noticed you have a 21.. are they more than an inch tall?

    Edit: Stole this from google...

I have mine set to fill in the difference between what the regular mirror can't see, and the ground. I can't quite see the bottom of my tire. I use these more for safe lane changes rather than the trailer worrying about the trailer. I can change lanes without having to look over my shoulder.

Looks like the bottoms are 2" tall x 8" wide. Tops are about 6.5" tall.

Thanks, that's basically how I have mine at the moment.

Yep, same as mine. 2nd gen is 2.25... needs to be about 4. I think mine are set about the same as @19TurdPro

My opinion is that the tow mirrors are a disadvantage over the stock sport style mirrors until you’re actually towing, and then they are best when pulled out to the extended position.

That would be my take also...I figured it was just because I didn't know what I was doing and/or wasn't used to them.

I used to tow a travel trailer so I got mine out of necessity. When I went from my SR5 to my Pro, I couldn't stand the stock sport mirrors, so the tow mirrors were my first "mod", even though I no longer tow. What do your prefer better about the sport mirrors?

For me, for some reason I have problems judging how close I am to things on either side of me. I think part of it is my eyes are catching a glimpse of the bottom mirrors which messes with the perspective while I'm trying to focus on the upper mirror. Didn't seem to have that issue with any of my other tundras....Probably just need to get used to it.

I think the visibility down each side of the truck and outward is better with more vertical field of view with the sport mirrors. (In the upper main mirror)

I’m no stranger to mirror usage, as I move class 8 trucks around tight quarters on a daily basis, and somehow the Toyota tow mirrors don’t float my boat until I pin a trailer on.

    Not nearly enough room here!
I have the "sliver" of convex at the bottom adjusted to show rear wheels when backing into a parking spot. Bought 6" convex spots and made brackets to handle what Toyota's 'jokes' can't.1219181306.jpg
