I had a 2016 TRD 4Runner with the same sort of wheels, and never could get them clean. Water marks, dirt, all that stuff.

So is there a specific soap you folks use? I don't use any of the chemical cleaners, just looking for the best soap and approach. I never do it in direct sunlight, but these things seem to pick up all the minerals from the water.

I recently started using a filter on my hose to wash our camper, and that seems to help. Still waiting on delivery of my truck, so I wanted to see what you folks do before I make the same mistakes.

Griots Garage Heavy Duty cleaner, and any cleaner that has iron remover in it, will take care of iron deposits. A quality all purpose cleaner, such a Meguiars APC, Optimum Power Clean will take care of the rest. There are lots of people who have had success with P&S Brake Buster as well. Once you get them clean, coat them. That advice was given to me several years ago and it has served me well. I'd recommend Cquartz Dlux or Gyeon Rim. Once your wheels are coated, they will clean up with soap and water.

As a side note, there are tons of wheel cleaning videos on YouTube. Some will go into detail as to what brushes, tools and cleaners they use.

I don't have any issues with the water spots, I just find it a pain in the ass to clean them and get into all the corners.

I shoot them with any paint-safe wheel cleaner, then spray it off after a minute or so. they all do an ok job. then I clean them with a soapy brush (currently meguar's soap. i'm not picky on the brand though) like the green ones posted already in this thread. then just hose off. if you want to avoid water spots, either dry them off or use water that isn't from a tap. and don't do it in direct sunlight unless you intend to wipe them down. a coat of wax doesn't hurt either.
