How can I get my tundra to hold 80 Gallons of Fuel?

has anyone tried to add one of those aux fuel tanks, with the switch to get 80+ gallons of fuel instead of the standard 38 gallon tank?

 

That wouldn’t be instead of. You keep the 38 gallon tank, add the aux tank in the bed, then have a transfer pump that you can switch on and off to pump from the aux tank to the OE tank. Diesel guys do it when they hotshot. Just have to remember to switch the transfer pump off when your tank is full.

 

There are no 80 gallon tanks for the Tundra. To get 80 gallons of fuel, you’ll have to have your original tank, or the 46 gallon one ($$$, gas gauge is wrong, discontinued) and an additional aux tank. Since you would need the aux tank anyway, keep your original tank and transfer. Or, if you don’t mind stopping to put the gas in (kind of defeats the purpose for some) you can get an aux tank that’s not the big installed one, more like a portable with a transfer hose and nozzle on it and keep it in the bed. I don’t recommend driving around with all that extra fuel in portable container all the time though. The Aux tank will be safer.

My toy hauler has 210 gallons of fuel, and let me tell you it's very nice to only enter gas stations when you feel like it and it saves tons of time compared to the tundra every two hours.

 

I shudder thinking about your gas bill lol

 

Usually $350, but it's only every few months usually or ~2000 miles
