Wanted to start a thread to see how big people have gone, tire wise, on their stock suspension.

I have a 24 platinum with completely stock suspension and I’m hoping to get 285 65R/20s to fit with no rub. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen posts saying that size will work on a stock, but I could be off a little on the exact size.

If you’re running bigger tires on stock, I’m hoping you could post here so we could get a little catalog running on what will not work.

Thanks for the link. Lots of good info in that thread. The challenge is finding everyone with out a lift. I was hoping this link could be an easy to discover way to see what will fit and what will not on stock suspension only.

Tundras can fit fairly tall tires stock, but tire width is a limiting factor.

People run 285/75-18 on stock 3rd gen with stock wheels. So for height -35in tall tire fit but the width needs to be in the 11-11.5 range. In your case, that tires size should be fine at 34.6 tall and 11.2 wide, but check specs on the actual brand/model of tire you want. For instance, Wildpeaks are always slightly larger than say Cooper or BFG in the same tire size and mud terrain lug size is much bigger than AT tires, so sizes do vary a bit depending on tire type, brand, model etc.

Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. Had them put on today, and can confirm 285 65/R20 BFG KO2s fit fine. No lift, no rub!

Nice! I wanted to go with that size but they're only available in E Load. Ended up going a little bit smaller with 275/65R20 to get a standard load tire.

Given the 285 65/R20 are E-Load, wonder what PSI should run? Tire shop put them at 37. Maybe I should bump them to 50 to get better MPG.

Nope, use this handy tool to get air pressure in the ballpark when you change tire size or load rating. Then you can adjust a pound or two based on how you load your truck. For even further refinement, then do a chalk test based on your actual truck and loads

I have a 2024 Tundra Platinum with the OEM lift system and the original factory tires. I use the truck to pull my cargo trailer converted to tiny house RV. We’re off road for easily less than 1% of our travels. I am OK with the stock wheels and tire size but know that I’m probably looking to change to Michelin Defender LTX, which I had on my Tacoma before I upgraded to the Tundra and really liked. My trailer would be happy if my truck tires were 2 inches larger in diameter (raising the hitch one inch.) But I also know that I have not the knowledge or skill to figure out the ideal size of tire to make that work without undue modification. Is it possible? Anyone out there with better understanding than I?
