How about a “I wish they made this for the tundra” thread

Just a thought, maybe we can all get together a list of things that the aftermarket has been sleeping on for the tundra. Seems like everything is catered towards the taco and 4runner crowd.

what do you wish was made for the 2.0/2.5 gen Tundras?

I wish that someone made better storage solutions for the double cab and something to better organize the cavernous center console.
An aftermarket high clearance rear bumper that would work with bsm would be ideal as well.

Frankly I haven't found anything they don't make for the Tundra. Anything I've searched for I've found, or asked about and been pointed towards. It's a dangerous game for my wallet, because I love customizing and adding stuff.

The GMC Sierra 47 stage tailgate on my Tundra would be nice. GM has a built in step. Ford has a built in step. Dodge has.... well no one knows what the hell Dodge is thinking with their tailgate. Toyota needs to up their tailgate game.

A wide step that can double as a bench would be decent, but they would probably add 2k to the MSRP.

A soft topper that would function with Trail Ed. bedside storage would be great.

AWD option - depending on year, Sequoia swap is doable
True locker/LSD - several aftermarket options now
Heated rear seats for the kiddos - lots of options here too

I just wish it came with those things to begin with.... and not need to mod or alter just about everything.
If I listed all the things I already modded that didn't come with the truck, it would be a very long list. And if I built a truck with everything I want in it from the start, it would be a $150,000 truck.

Check out the Trail Ed bedside storage. Pretty handy. Some have said they experienced leaks. I don't get it, mine don't leak. Maybe they have clogged bed drainage and park on a slope causing the bed to hold water??? I simply dunno, but whatever. There is/was one member here who did a write up about taking them apart and resealing. Again, whatever. As for your other comment about the $150k truck, totally agree!

My only gripe is the lack of an A-pillar grab handle for getting into the driver's seat. Why this is not on all trucks from factory is beyond me. It's on the passenger side already!

It is due to crash test results. Basically a mark of impact from the handle was noted on the dummy.

One of many features they removed during the 2.5 facelift that makes the interior annoying.

Using that logic though, couldn't the same thing can't happen from the passenger side too? If true, then why not take them both away? Not saying I'd want that.

    I'd like;
    1. Fold down rear bench seat.
    2. A light-weight (under 700lbs?) well made over-the-cab truck shell or topper (whatever the name).

The crash rating system is based on what happens when tested, not what else may happen.

I think you might be able to get a custom aluminum topper fabricated and come in under 700#'s, just don't include too much glass in the design.
