Sequoia is my wife's ride. I love it. Rides like a cadillac compared to the Tundra. But mines way faster!!!

    Welcome neighbor!

So, can you tell me about the Sequoia front end changeover? My wife also has one, and this would be a very cool mod for it.
What all went into it, and what was the total expense if you don’t mind me asking? You can PM me if you don’t want to talk money publicly.

It was not a cheap/easy mod. The expense would depend on a few things, mainly the availability of cheap used parts and a good relationship with a local dealer. Basically you have to swap out all of the exterior body parts on the front cap (doors forward) I bought my Sequoia from auction with a minor front end collision. It was my intent to find the perfect candidate for this swap that was in excellent shape and had minor damage. It took 2 years to find one, but this one was mint.

I would estimate approximately 2k for parts or more depending on what options you like (i had to have the 2018 LED's :)) and budget another 1500 or more for paint work. Mine was different since I had som many other costs involved in repairing the collision damage, so i can only really give an estimate. Having a local dealer willing to give a nice discount on parts is a huge help since things like hoods/fenders are really expensive and difficult to find used at a reasonable price

Thanks for the info. I was guessing around 5k. I wonder if this is something that could be worked into a deal on new ones at the dealership. There’s a few guys on here that are actively looking at buying Sequoias. Since they aren’t selling well, people are finding some pretty good discounts on them.

What dealer did you get your parts from?

I used Autonation Toyota in Houston for my parts. Renee was awesome and really receptive to my project ideas. They have a good discount structure that is similar or better than most online vendors. Still have to pay tax, but no shipping fees is pretty sweet.

I doubt a dealer would do this conversion. If they did, it would be significantly inflated. The parts do bolt right on for the most part, but there is some fabrication involved due to the minute differences. Additional fender bolt holes and locations means that tabs need to be fabricated and relocated. Grill mounting is different, the Gen 2 grills mount to the hood where the Gen 3's mount to the radiator support and brackets. Misc other things need to be modified. Nothing particularly difficult, but i wouldnt want to be on the stealers clock while they try to figure all of that out.

I have used that AutoNation/Toyota. If you use their online quoting tool, there is a significant discount given. The toyota part # is required for the quote, so a little homework is required.

I really liked the conversion, wow just wow good job @swank501. Just curious questions Did you do this yourself or did you have it done? why not source the parts from the junkyard as appose to the dealership?

Some parts i do source from a junkyard, but theres a couple things to know. Tundras (esp the newer ones) hold their values really well and generally are harder to find in a junk yard since they usually get fixed vs getting totaled out. The ones that do total are usually pretty messed up. There was actually a totaled one i found, but I could not just buy the front sheet metal. I had to buy a cut front clip which would have been 3500 and have a bunch of things i either didnt need, or wanted to change (like the headlights). I just do whatever makes sense economically. Sometimes its the salvage yard, sometimes its the dealer, sometimes its fine sites like these!

I do most of the work where/when I can. I did everything on the single cab since I had access to a paint booth. That access fell through over time. I did everything on the Sequoia including all the jamb spraying and panel cut-in, but the exterior paint was farmed out locally to Collision Plus. They do excellent work and use a really high end paint system (glasurit).
