Hi to everyone from Tampa Bay, Florida.

Been researching the 2024 Toyota Tundra line-up for about 1 month now....resisting the purchase until I figured out WHAT trim and options I wanted. That's REALLY hard for me, as I can be very impulsive. What I have decided is to get the 2024 Tundra Platinum series. I'm thinking 2WD instead of 4WD..since my boat days are over...and I really don't tow anything. Decided on Magnetic Gray with black leather. Options on the one that's coming in aprox. 30 days has the Heads-up display, power running boards and power tailgate step. I chose to stay away from the Hybrid version and stick with the straight gas. The dealership that I'm working with offered me a $7,000 discount. (friends and family) I have been told that that is a phenomenal deal. No insane fees...except the standard dealer prep., taxes and tags.

It's been a pretty stressful decision for me. I am currently in a 2019 Ram Rebel that only has 40K miles on it...and it is in GREAT condition and has never had an issue. WHY TRADE???? Well...if you read enough forums...you can get spooked enough to question your decisions. This past weekend, I decided on the "1794" edition. Drove it...loved it. My girl loved it! But...I wasn't 100% excited! I figured out...that I really don't like all the chrome! Went down to a dealer in the area and saw the color configuration of the one I thought I wanted. It had just rolled in and was being detailed for the lot. I fell in lust! (picture attached). Looking forward to getting info and advice going forward as I navigate through the ownership of this new truck.

    Thanks for having me!!

This is what I'm currently driving. It's a 2019, 40,800 miles. ZERO safety features...which could be a Godsend. There have been a couple concerning little glitches with it. BUT all in all...it's the best driving truck that I've ever owned.

Never thought I'd buy something so bright..as RED. I fell in love with the interior...and bought it. If it weren't for tax write-offs and my impulsive nature...I'd probably keep it. I'm like my Dad in so many ways. When he was alive...he used to buy cars like every two years. He'd tell my Mom...."Honey...the muffler is going bad and we're going to need tires...so I'm trading it in!" My Mom always said yes! Yep...well...with a bit more logical thinking.... that is me!

I loved my MGM when i first got it. However I would never buy another one in that color. It shows every spec of dirt and dust and you will have to hand wash or touchless wash it. I don't mind that but it would be nice to just run it through a normal car wash now and again.

Nice choice of car and color!

I would definitely go for the 4x4 version. I see you're already on the Tundras forum, that means you'll be pulled slowly into modding your truck. When that time comes, you're gonna wish you had gone for the 4x4.

    Just my two cents.

I would entertain the silver...but availability is still a tad on the short side. The Magnetic Gray does show the dust and especially the pollen. That is for sure. The biggest problem I'm facing is re-doing the sprinkler system. The well water, full of rust is a killer on paint surfaces and even though the head is adjusted...any breeze can blow it right over to the truck. It's maddening! The good news...is that I have a monthly subscription to a car wash. I can take it as many times as I want. I also plan on getting a professionally applied ceramic coating on as well...to HELP...protect the finish. if they have a silver coming in...I may choose differently. However...that MGM is a beautiful color with all the black accents.

I agree I really do love mine I would just make a different decision next time. I also have subscription for a car wash but it isn't touchless and swirls the paint so I canceled it. Either way you are gonna be really happy with your truck.

Welcome to the forum! I had MGM on my Tacoma before I trade for my tundra and honestly it was a great color. I had it ceramic coated so it looked real good all the way to trade in and I washed it maybe 3-4 times a year. You definitely can’t go wrong with a tundra and the platinums are real nice. If you are trading in vehicles often, I would recommend getting 4WD as it will be way better for resale in the long run. Hope you get the deal and truck you want!

SLOWLY??? I already have a list of things I wanna add! I get the 4x4 option. It does help in resale...even in flatland Florida. But....I would never use it. Don't trailer anything that would require a 4wd.....don't go off road...don't want super big off-road tires...don't want to lift it. Now...with all that said...if I decide to lease it...then the 4x4 option gives a much higher residual...basically covering the cost of the 4x4 option. THEN I would surely get the 4x4. However...I havent checked to see if they have that vehicle coming in. I'm a little at their mercy as far as selection...for they gave all the money to me in the way of discount. If they had to locate one...then they wouldn't be too happy. In other words...I wouldn't want them spending more money to sell a truck for zero profit.

I've owned a 2000 Silverado LT, 2003 GMC Sierra SLE 4x4, 2005 GMC Sierra SLE, 2007 GMC Sierra SLT, 2013 GMC Sierra SLT, 2016 Ford F-150 Platinum, 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD...and then my current 2019 Ram Rebel. Only 1 has been a 4x4. But...if I lease it and can basically get it for free...then heck yea! Problem is..lease programs aren't all that great right now. Hopefully...when it comes in...they have a new lease program out for Tundras making it lower. I was thinking that in an election year, that rates MIGHT be coming down...but Nooooooo!

Now THAT is a sexy truck!! Looks great!!

The detail guy at the Toyota dealership I visited to look at the color made a comment. He stated that Toyota's paint were horrible. They faded fast and were easily chipped by road debris. Have you experienced that??

To me, get the 4WD. One reason is it’s better to have and not need, then to need and not have.
It would also have a higher resale value- dependent upon the state sold.

Ya know...at one time...in Florida, 4WD trucks received NOTHING extra during appraisals. They would look at it as a 2WD. In the past 10 years...4WD's really took off! They DO bring more on resale in recent years. If I lease it..it will be 4WD. Not quite sure if I wanna sport the payment on this dang thing. It's already over 70K.
