On the way to work this morning driving on the HWY 80+MPH all of a sudden the hood latch release was engaged,WTF!?
The hood opened and luckily was stopped by the safety latch, thank God it held the hood partially closed until I was able to pull over.
When I opened the hood didn't see any reason as to why it would deploy, there wasn't anything in the engine compartment to put tension (like on Tommy Boy) the last time it was opened was three weeks ago at the Stealership for oil change service.I am not saying it is there fault because if the hood wasn't shut properly I would of been pinged by the dash cluster 3 weeks ago.
The driver side hood gasket took a hit thou. it's was folded over (4") or so and can't be re pinned due to rippage of the pin that held it in first hole/starting point of the gasket placement.

So the question is, has anybody else have this pleasant experience happen to you?

Sounds like it just wasn't fully latched last time? Maybe the hood sensor is bad? Seems like a lot of planets have to align to explain this scenario...

Happened to me once, but it was 100% my fault for not shutting the hood completely. Is the latch mechanism loose at all? I imagine if the bolts holding the latch down weren't snug, then 80+MPH would probably do the truck to get then to loosen to the point where they'd let go.

    First off thanks for replying!
Yeah man, I have zero clue as to what the scenario may have/was.Like mentioned it was serviced 3 weeks ago and figured if it was loose it would of triggered a ping.

Yes, unless there is an issue with the switch...

Haven't had that ever happen, but do notice the hood flex with high winds/speed. Thinking please don't pop open !!! One benefit of 2nd gen was the smaller/firmer hood ...never seen it flex and was easy to see over and judge parking distance without fear of hitting things. Camera system really helps with new model.

I thought it was just me seeing the hood flex under high winds, unfortunately it wasn't windy that morning and still don't understand how that happened.
I did put a call into corporate and it's been documented.
I have an uneasy feeling about it, it happening in daylight with traffic is one thing where you can look between the dash and and hood ( if opened) but night time and unexpected, yeah that would suck.
