I was thinking about doing Raptor liner on the honeycomb. It would match the Line-X on my flares, step bars, and bumpers. What do you guys think? I do have a spare honeycomb insert if it doesn't turn out well.

I agree it would look great. Also, having the spare, what do you have to lose giving it a shot?

See... I'm thinking the opposite. I'm feeling like it will take away from how awesome your truck is looking and having the matte liner on the honeycomb will make the chrome T pop which I hated and why I covered mine.

But, you have a spare insert so what do you have to lose besides some broken tabs from swapping the inserts back and forth. I say spray it and share the result and I hope I'm just wrong in how it will look.

I don’t think there is enough material that it will make much difference for the effort.

I actually really like how the honeycomb grilles look. Don't like the stupid aftermarket "aggressive" looking grilles with the huge TUNDRA across the front or whatever. Also don't like when people try to smoke out or change the color of the Toyota logo. Looks great just how it comes.

Toyota has been handing out cease and desist letters like dollar bills at a gentlemen's club...

You'd think these things that are selling SO WELL that Toyota has to issue a cease and desist, that maybe they'd wake up and make that item themselves. It's obvious they'd sell. WE HATE CHROME TOYOTA!! Come on..

Agree. For the most part I think the designers do a good job with the appearance of most of their trucks. Understand not everybody hates chrome! I have wanted to post on other threads that some of the mods just go too far...the first one or two look good..then the third and fourth just start clashing.

In this case, since he has the extra grill, no real downside to try it. Personally I agree with another post above..not much juice for the squeeze. I like the current look.

I wouldn't mind it if the insert was black instead of gray.

I painted my honeycomb grille I had previously satin black and it looked really good. The gray on the insert looks better on some colors than others, much in the way chrome works better on some colors than others. Magnetic gray metallic has a tough time with both, in my opinion. I think the same applies to Barcelona, but that’s just my take. Everyone gets to do their own thing.

Yeah I hear you there. Being that I have a spare, I'll either Rhino line it or spray it black. Will the paint stick to the OEM coating as it is currently?

I’d have to check with the guy I gave my old grille to and see how it’s holding up, but I didn’t have any bubbling or pealing over the 6 months or so I ran it. Mine was an SR5 so the surface felt pretty raw to start. I think the Platinum version might already be painted?
