hit 1000 miles of use in my new to me and adding mods

I LOVE MY TRUCK!

Today on my second trip to Austin from Houston I hit 1000 miles of use...bought it 11/14. Lots of power when I need it, good feel in the seat for my back, slowly adjusting to the size. My Son says I've joined the big boy truck club lol. For this trip mostly hiway with a little city, I averaged 17.3 traveling 75ish most of the way (no payload) using 87 octane (the normal/cheap stuff). My 01 F150 would get about the same. Way way happy.

So far I've found a $100 set of nicely used weathertechs (Craigslist), bought a $40 set of nontow mirrors in decent shape (craigslist), and took advantage of Sparks Toyota free shipping to buy a 8T7 grill surround to body color match the grill, and used the shipping savings to buy a full set of vent visors from them. Oh...found a old school 2 male wire to use the aux of the radio to connect my android=it works!

I'll reinstall the tow mirrors when towing. Easy to do.

Looking at a flip/bed extender next and a spray in bedliner. Want to do the rear seat mod, then build under seat storage asap too.

I don't like how it sounds like a diesel all the time but my buddy's truck sounds the same so it must be the way the 07-08 5.7 sounds in normal op.

This is a bad a$$ truck...can't wait for my first hauling experience.

 

I remember my first day with a Tundra. Felt like I was at light speed. (I had come from a V6 Silverado.)

War Machine: Thanks for that link! I ordered Polished Horns on Fire anodized. That's the only nonfactory exterior addon i'll make except for rims and a discrete lower grill light bar. That grill emblem should look awesome on the black grill insert with the color matched grill surround.

My F150 has a 5.4....it's been ok power wise....but light speed is exactly how I would describe the feeling coming from it to the Tundra. The go pedal is serious. Towing should be a breeze.

When I bought my used Tundra I flew down to North Carolina and drove it home that afternoon. 900+ miles of driving. Even coming from a 1st gen Tundra the 2nd felt a wold different. Much larger feeling and it held 75 the whole trip without any effort what so ever. In fact there were a few times when I easily could of been pulled over. My 1st gen could pull a trailer with my tractor on it but it was a workout. I haven't had a need yet but I'm looking forward to seeing what the extra ponies feel like when going up some of the hills around here.
