Have a 2009 Tundra V6, notice at start up , engine has a noise like it idles high but after less than a minute normal engine sound. No change in RPM during idle with or without sound. Been doing this since I bought vehicle, 7 years ago.

Just curious if anyone had a explanation.

Should I wait till engine resumes normal sound before putting into gear?

Mine does it. I think it's partly the fan clutch mechanism adjusting itself and the fan slowing down after a bit.

Agreed. Normal. Fan clutch is engaged during start up, and after some time it disengages and becomes quiet. Very typical of a mechanical clutch fan.
