The temps are always perfect, and the chance of rain makes it exciting. I’ll probably bring lots of leftovers depending who shows up for thanksgiving.

This is the perfect time of year to go off-roading but man this park staff rubbed me the wrong way the last two times I went. The second to last I took a 2wd (front wheel drive) RAV4 with street tires on it, and was meeting friends to ride with in their side by side, and they argued with me for 30 minutes telling me that they aren't stupid and I'm actually going to off-road a stock 2012 Rav4 front wheel drive with street tires! They wanted to charge me like $150 for the weekend. They just seem money hungry. I told them I was a member on here and a couple other off-road sites and would absolutely bash them into the ground if they forced me to pay that with that vehicle. I was willing to go home before I paid an off-road fee for that vehicle. It was ridiculous. No common sense.

Now the next time made more sense. I came with my Tundra on basically almost slicks, and again was just riding along with my friend, but they insisted I pay an off road fee. I pleaded with them and showed them the tires, but they didn't believe me. Ultimately I offered to leave the truck parked at the front near the check in, and have my friend pick me up, but it was clear they just wanted the money. After them having no argument anymore at this point, they finally conceded.

Again I wasn't trying to get one over on them. I've paid them happily every time I've come there to off-road. Just those two times I wasn't.

By comparison I've came to Barnwell as a guest, riding with friends, and regardless of what I'm driving, they take me at my word and don't act like I'm a criminal trying to lie to them. I even told Barnwell about how Hidden Adventure acted, and they said "yeah, we don't assume every customer is lying to us and treat them like they are liars... That's bad business". I 100% agree. I understand some people lie and take advantage, but not everyone is a lying POS. Plus for example the RAV4 should be common sense. I can see the skepticism of my driving the Tundra though. That was more reasonable.

Anyways, I'll get off my soap box. I'll actually be off-roading this time, so it will be a non issue.

Yeah they pissed me off once, but I was already in the park... Long story.
But I've never had any issues at the entrance. My buddies Billy and Shelly work there, when they aren't park rangers in Yellowstone.
Got another buddy, Colin, who's local and a member of the park.

stop chuffin’, its gonna be an adult go kart. Cv axle suspension. Hoping for 100hp and 1000lbs. I’ve got an amc 4.0 setup we could setup for midengine to stretch the wheelbase. And bring the noise. Would be cool to find a bmw r18 or whatever to hang off the back.

I’ve seen duallys on 24” wheels and other stock 2wd vehicles out there plenty of times. People will wheel anything.

Has anyone been to whats known as the Slab?
It's in the Texas hill Country near Lake LBJ if I remember correctly.
It's basically a dry river bed made of pink granite.
It's has some really cool wheeling!!!
    And the traction is incredible!!!
Went with what was known as Tacoma Territory at the time.
Think the name was changed to Toyota Territory these days.

    Well that Sucks!!
It's been awhile since I've been up there.
    Although I'm not surprised.
Leave it up to the Gov and they'll F up a good time everytime!!!
I can kinda see there side of it,dont want someone punching a hole in their oil pan and getting oil in the water.
And then you have the tire marks all over the place.
While I'm a big fan of private property and with Texas being around 98% privately owned it kinda limits the wheeling opportunities.
Ya gotta rely on a property owner to open up his place for wheeling.
But to be honest if I had the acreage and the terrain I wouldnt want a bunch Yahoos driving all over it and tearing Shit up.
    Thats My Job!!!:burnrubber:

that is his project now. He says it needs to be a vw ATV you straddle and have handlebars. Him and his favorite bitch will sit in sidecars between the wheelbase.
