So, I backed my truck partially into my garage so I could unload some stuff. My wife, operating on auto-pilot, closed the garage door when she went inside:eek2: The door is 18 feet wide and requires two commercial springs as it is over 1000lbs! I will say, all considered, the trucked faired pretty well. So far, I notice one small dent in the hood, that resembles hail damage on one of the high edges towards the center.

I was inside and could see/hear her doing it, but couldn't react fast enough. She had no idea what I was yelling as I ran towards the door, LOL. I literally felt sick. This truck has tried my patience / mental fortitude from every angle now.

....some mirrors may blow off on the highway, but I'll be damn if these things can't be crushed and survive, lmao.

My wife did this at our old house with her old sequoia. Auto pilot when leaving, opened the door and started backing out. Caught the door with the rear spoiler and ripped it off. Luckily no damage to the door and I was able to fix the spoiler.

Been there, had that done to me. That's the reason there's a qt oil bottle setting next to the photo eye cat saver. Foul the path of the door? Move the oil bottle in front of the sensor.

32oz of prevention is worth 3 tons of cure.

That stinks! My garage door won’t close if anything is in its path. Does yours not have sensors?

The sensor is almost always located about 4-6” off the ground. If the truck was parked where neither wheel obstructed the sensor then it wouldn’t have mattered.

However, they have bump stops on many industrial doors that soon as it hits something it shuts off the downward motion preventing injury or damage plus creating a seal to the floor once closed

This ^...sensor went between the wheels. I believe my door does have a bump stop, but it's a good amount of force first. Had an aluminum pole handle fall into it's path before, folded it right over before stopping.

As if eh! I was doing everything possible to keep my new truck clean and someone came and keyed my truck. Half the passenger door and the whole box. I'm going thru a court case with false allegations put towards me and that's what I get before my court gets resolved. Not cool.

She felt pretty bad. I did not need to make a sacrifice to the Toyota Gods for forgiveness.
