Ok guys and gals, I need a little help here. I had my truck out 4-wheeling and got the windshield covered with enough mud that I couldn’t see, so I hit the windshield washer and wipers...long story short I now have a scratched up windshield. There are a few spots that look like someone hit it with sandpaper. How do I get rid of them without replacing the windshield?

lots of buffing with a glass polishing compound, but if scratches are deep no beuno, think of it like scratches in paint ...too deep and polishing/compound alone isnt enough to deep is too deep if you can feel it with finger nail than there is no fix for that ...need replacement

Dude, that is not what I wanted to hear, try again. Lol thanks for the input. I can’t feel the scratches so maybe I’ll be able to fix it.

you can try to buff but in my opinion if its lots of scratches not worth the effort which will be alot (effort)also if you buff too hard you can distort the glass and even worse to get scratches out will require a high rpms if it heats the glass too much due to friction the laminate will also distort, wish i had better news

I cut and polish gemstones for a living. Getting a deep scratch out of flat glass or any flat stone is damn near impossible.

I've always heard to use Bon Ami on grungy windshields. But I've been pretty suspect of that advice.

I'd think you could simply clean the scratch, then fill with that windscreen chip-fill miracle liquid. I should think that would work.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Check out Griots Garage.

They have a glass buffing kit. Better than buying a new windshield.

You could check with your insurance company to see what your glass coverage is. You could play it as a safety issue....."when driving into the sun"....

They sell a whole kit on Amazon, buffer attachment and all. I have never tried it but have talked to a ton of people who have on motorcycles, boats, etc. Apparently it works pretty well for Lexan too but again not confirmed by me.
