Can anyone post some pictures of their fuel door? Just noticed yesterday mine doesn't close completely and it looks like it's missing a piece but not sure what it is.

    Thanks in advanced.

Thanks for that. Didn't realize it was different so I had asked a facebook group. Ended up finding that the fuel door hinge was misaligned. Tried my best to push it down so the spring clip clipped to the clamp. Seems to work fine for now but won't be surprised it the fuel door fails again.

Those hinges are a known problem. I had two '03 4Runners that have the same type of hinge. The thick wire that Toyota uses for the hinge tends to start to rust inside the pivot points on the fender side of the assembly. This will cause the hinge to start to bind, and over time it will bend the arm which will cause the door to not align and close properly. If let go too long, the pin can break. If you lube the pivot points with a rust preventing oil, you may save it from further damage. If it does break, the only fix I have found is to replace the door assembly. This involves painting the new door (Toyota does not sell pre-painted doors), and drilling out the pop-rivets that hold the hinge to the fender, then riveting the new door in place.
