Help with my 3rd gen Bumper Swap...

I have a 2010 Rock Warrior with the one piece Painted bumper. I swapped out to a 3rd gen bumper, bed lined it, threw some cube fogs and adapter brackets on, light bar, etc... My question is, I had to buy an upper bumper trim (52129B) to sit on top of the 3rd gen lower bumper. I need part number 52072, but Im unsure how it attaches to the upper bumper, and is it necessary?

The clips on top (52161C) clip the upper bumper trim to the retainer. Also, the 52115F goes in from the bottom to hold them together.

 

Hold what together? the upper and lower bumper parts, or the upper to the retainer?
I have the rock warrior, it had a one piece bumper, so I had to buy the upper valence, and now the retainer.

 

52072 fits inside 52129B, so those clips will hold the two parts together. I wish I had an actual picture to show you instead of an exploded diagram view.
