I purchased a 2011 with a R/C leveling kit with ucas diff drop and a 2” spacer on top of the front struts. I want to get new struts and getting mixed reviews if I need the 2” or 3.5” lifted struts to delete the spacers. Does anyone know the definite answer? Thanks!!!

You have lots of options to get rid of the spacer - from bilstein 5100’s to Dobinson MRR or Fox 2.5’s. If the spacer measures an actual 2” thick, that equates to about a 3.5” lift. The strut to wheel motion ratio is about 1.7 : 1 - meaning, if the strut moves 1”, the wheel moves 1.7”.

3.5” with a simple adjustable height strut like the Bilstein 5100 or Eibach Pro Truck is going to be a tall order as they typically met 2.5” or so of lift, as well as produce a less comfortable ride. Look for struts that are setup for 3.5” lift; they usually supply longer coils and have a longer extended length than stock.

Thank you. Rough country makes a 3.5” strut that seems to have good reviews. With the 2” spacer I didn’t know if I needed a 2” or 3.5” strut. Thanks!

As noted above, pull out a tape measure or calipers or ruler and measure the spacer stacked atop the strut. Multiply that by 1.7 and that should tell you what size lift you need to match what you already have. If the spacer is 2” tall, the lift is 3.5”. If the spacer is 1.25” tall, then it’s a 2” lift.
