    Hi,

I have a cloth flap under the front passenger seat that disconnects every week or so. I think its purpose is to help secure the leather seat cover. The local toyota dealership where I purchased the truck wasn't helpful. They did what I do: reconnect it to the metal strip (visible behind the flap in the picture). But, as mentioned, it disconnects again every week or so. If clips are used (as seen in the picture), it holds a little longer, but eventually the flap somehow disconnects and is found hanging again.

Anyone else have this problem and any idea on a permanent solution? Other than cutting it off ... which I'm already considering.

Hi Raziug, I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue too! I was able to fix it by replacing the entire leather upholstery of the seat. Thankfully, this was covered under warranty. The plastic snap is not sold separately.

That looks awful. To me it looks like a defective seat cover.

I'm also having this issue on my 2020. Some of you have said this is covered under warranty, is that correct? Thanks.

Doubt that's covered on a 4.5 year old truck. Maybe jam some double stick tape in the plastic clip and then attach it to the seat frame, hopefully that would hold it on.

After doing Katzkin installations and tearing down and rebuilding seats on a couple cars, I'm pretty familiar now with how the upholstery fasteners work. There are clips like this, hog rings, and then also elastic straps.

This looks like it might be a good place to use an elastic strap. If it were me, I'd pull that flap all the way out and up so it's inverted, hidden side exposed. Get a 18" or so length of stretchy black or gray elastic and fasten it to the very edge on the hidden side of that flap; stitch it on, or staple even- it's going to be under the seat when you're done and therefore hidden.

Once it's on, feed the flap back into place and go to the other side of the seat. Pull the elastic band taut and hook it on anything you can under there so the flap is kept up where it should be. If the elastic is too long, just tie a knot to create a shorter band.

Honda uses straps like this from the factory to hold this very flap in place in their CRVs.
    Hope this helps!
