I am new so please bear with me. my 2001 8cy. Tundra had a hose come off while my wife was driving and I had purchased the truck used. long story short, she drove 2 miles while hot . after being towed and the hose being reattached and water and antifreeze being put in radiator, it wouldn't start. how can I check for motor damage or what troubleshooting sequence should I begin with,.

    Define "wouldn't start"

Does the engine turn over and not start? Engine does not do anything when trying to start it?

We need more detail, we weren't there when it happened.

Which hose came off? Upper rad, lower rad, heater, bypass?

Drove how hot? Temp gauge in red? Temp gauge spiked at top of scale? Any other engine light lite while driving?

How far and how fast? 2 miles limping on residential street or two miles at 80mph to then limp home?

How much coolant did you have to add after repair, 1,2,3 gallons?

Was it towed to you and you did the repair, or a garage?

Mine survived an ordeal just like this, not once, but twice, you just might be ok. I became further amazed with this engine. Check for codes first.
