I've been wrestling with TPMS in my 2007 since I bought some 2014 wheels/tires off a member here on Tundras.com

I had discount tire scan each TPMS sensor from the outside, the only problem is their scanners bring it back in decimal format. So I converted each DEC ID into HEX and thus my 4 ID's are the following:

    From Discount Tire:

    LF 3422994568
    RF 2950354254
    RR 3422994331
    LR 3422994233

But this is how I am entering them into Techstream - this seems to be the only way I get 2 registered

    1) CC06BF39 (LR)
    2) CC06C088 (LF)
    3) CC06BF9B (RR)
    4) AFDAD54E (RF)

I have a funny feeling that #4 was replaced at some point by the previous owner since it doesn't match the pattern of the rest.

Well I have registered these 4 about 10 times, only 1 and 3 ever report tire pressure. 2 and 4 never report in.

    Questions:
    1) Do they have to be input in a particular order? LF , RF, RR, LR? I've switched them all around, but it doesn't seem to matter

    2) Is it possible the DEC to HEX didn't work right? I mean, two of them registered so I got something right. Should I have my tire guy pull all 4 tires so I can manually record their ID's?

    3) What am I missing? Or should I just replace 2 and 4 with new OEM ones and call it a day?

    Getting frustrated here.

Answer to question 1: The order of input does not matter.

For question 2: I’m thinking there might have been a mix-up there. Or they wrote the numbers wrong for you. If they could read ID’s the sensors are obviously transmitting. You did wait 5 minutes or so after programming, right?

I’d have the tire shop scan and program all 4 sensors. Should be cheaper than breaking beads to get 2 ID’s. Hook up Techstream after and see what’s different.

Thank you for confirming the order, I was making sure I could just enter them however.

As far as the second part, I made sure there wouldn't be transcribing issues so I took a picture of each one after he scanned. You say wait 5 minutes after programming? Do I need to hit the TPMS relearn button under the steering column?

No, no need to hit the button. Finish programming Id’s, and wait. It usually takes a couple minutes for all mine to read. (I swap spring and fall) They should pop up one at a time. I’m pretty sure you can drop the tire pressures below the threshold pressure to speed that up.

Ok, so no need for engine to be running or vehicle to move. Just ignition power so I program the sensors and then just sit and wait for 5/10 min?

Alright, went back out and tried again using your tips.

Registered the IDs in random order and then waited.

Good news was that the two IDs that would never show up before (LF&RF) now are showing.

Bad news is the two that were previously working didn’t show up after waiting 10 minutes.

    This makes no sense.

    Thoughts?

Do you know the history of the other 3 sensors? Are they original? Last summer one died on my '07 so I replaced all 4. It's not that hard. You only need to break the bead on one side and you don't touch the wheel weights so you don't need to rebalance the wheels. My thought is that once one goes they all must be close to going. When I did it I found another one had been replaced with an aftermarket one that could have it's code programed into it.

My advice is to replace all 4. That aftermarket one sounds questionable to me and #2 could be too weak for the truck to read but a handheld scanner an inch away still could. I found that buying one doesn't make much sense cost wise. I bought TRW sensors off of Amazon and the price for 1 wasn't much cheaper than 4. They might have been Chinese clones but they've worked just fine for 2 years now.

I don't know the history other than they used to belong to @snarkscarbine . They came off his 2014 Tundra. I would hope they haven't gone bad in 6 years. I do not know if that particular one with a different ID is aftermarket or factory replacement.

The only thing I can think of is it will take 1 or 2 miles of rotation for the computer to read the pressures in the rear tires since they are further from the computer?

But alas, I am leaving for a camping trip (Texas to Colorado) tomorrow at 6am, so no time to replace the sensors. If they don't start working right on the way up/back, Im going to replace them.

    This just seems overly complicated.
