Good afternoon all. So I picked up a pair of Rigid Ditch Lights and I intend on activating them with a OEM looking switch I bought from one of our vendors. The Rigid Lights have no wiring info, and you can see the optional switch is not plug n play. Pls see the attached pics. So the question is how do I adapt the Rigid wiring to the optional switch? Also, per the info on the lights they drawer just over 2 amps and I believe the switch is good for 3. Should I use a Relay, and where? Thanks, sorry for the newbie question, wiring intimidates me…

Study that diagram hard. The power for the lights doesn’t run through the switch - the switch just works the relay.

Ok, so the switch that came with the lights is simply plug and play, although they don’t mention which wire goes to which prong on the switch. Alright, so the relay is going in the light side of the fuse. So far, so good. How do I determine what size relay, or doesn’t it work that way? Then the switch gets wired to the relay. Got it. Thank you.

Typically a relay comes with the harness - you just swap out the switch you want to use for the one that came with the harness. You usually need to run the illumination wire separately as the harness isn’t setup for an illuminated switch.

No relay included with the harness, just a 15A inline fuse, and an illuminated switch. How do I determine where to buy and which size?

    Thanks Tundra.
Thanks AZ, naturally the Baja harness uses different plugs that go right into the lights than the Rigid lights use. Are all 12v relays made equally? I just cant wrap my head around how I attach those 3 wires that came with the lights to a relay that has only 3 terminals, then attach the remaining green wire from the switch to the relay that has no available terminals. Maybe I need to think about it tomorrow with a fresh head. Thank you, good night.

It’ll be a 4 pin relay like this.

Actually, that's one of the best schematics I've seen included with a pair of light pods...

The Rigid relay looks like a 3 pole, maybe one is hidden in photo? Assuming it’s 4, and it looks like the relay is stamped with the 85, 86, and 87, so that’s simple enough. Maybe I’ll just grab the Amazon one or one from my local parts guy. Thanks for taking the time to help me out here.

@AZBoatHauler @Tundra234 @texasrho83 So another pic or two to clarify my confusion. The red wire marked 30 with the piece of tape is the hot lead off the battery. Simple. The next pic is of the two terminal ends that plug into the lights, to the left are the remaining wires I need to find a home for. The double black with red tracer are the black from the battery, or ground, the other black splits and terminates at each lamp. Lastly that single red to the right splits and runs to the lamps. Obviously the hot. So with a relay that has 4 terminals, the 30 goes to 30 off the battery. What about the remaining terminals on the relay, 85, 86, and 87? What is getting plugged where? Sorry fir the stupid questions but I don’t want to screw this up. Thanks guys. IMG_8660.jpg IMG_8661.jpg IMG_8662.jpg

Still waiting for the 3d printed switch panel from a member but in the meantime I got the lights hooked up with the switch provided with the set of lights. I may not even bother with the above unless I can get it figured out.
