    Hey I’m interested in buying a high mileage tundra. It’s a 2017 4.7 L tundra w 4WD.
Has about 155k miles and it’s going around 24k. Has had only 1 owner and hasn’t been in any accidents. Don’t know much about vehicle history such as maintenance. Looks well kept in photos. Would this be a good deal? Looking for some advice.

If I haven't welcomed you yet, welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Mileage is a little higher than average, but if the truck was taken care of, it is barely broken in. Are you buying from the original owner, or from a dealer? If from the owner you should be able to get more maintenance history. Get the Carfax for it. While Carfax may miss some things, if there is any bad history listed, you will at least know about it.

Where are you and where is the truck? Can you look at it in person? Check for rust? That price is a bit higher than what I’d pay for a 4.7, but prices have been inflated for awhile.

I thought the 2017 tundras didn’t offer a 4.7l. I thought they offered only the 5.7l v8 in 2017? And welcome by the way.

Welcome to the forum, and greetings from Minnesota. Used prices are crazy right now. I just sold my 2000 4RUNNER with 165,000 miles on it for $12,500. The truck is worth whatever you are willing to pay.... check for frame rust. That would be a deal breaker.

I believe the 4.7L was offered in the 1st Gen and early year 2nd Gen's and switched to the 4.6L at some point to then later be dropped in 2019 if I recall correctly.

I would pass on that truck with that engine and mileage. Did you get then to send you a carfax too?

If it’s rust free and well maintained that’s a pretty good deal. I got a 2014 SR5 5.7 TRD Off-road for 25k with 120k miles on it but it does have some rust. Really depends on how well it’s been maintained.

It seems like a fair price and looks clean. I would have to greatly consider your intended use. 20 or 30k miles a year will tack on some more miles quickly.
    10-15k, not so much.

I had an '08 with that engine for 10 years and I had no engine issues. Sold it in 2018 with 192K on it. There is a good chance you are going to need to take care of several maintenance items so be sure you have that built into your budget in order to get another 150K out of it. If you can't take it to a mechanic to check it out before you buy it, at least call your mechanic and get some costs for the work that is recommended at 155K. Good Luck!

I guess your intentions on how it’s too be used come into play as well. Towing, especially in a hilly area I’d hold out for the 5.7 version. If not towing a lot that motor combo would work fine for you. Seems a little high on the price too me, but all trucks in general are there….

Intended use would be daily driver, with occasional trips to the coast and Houston. I would like to be able tow a small job boat and maybe upgrade to bass boat in the future. And maybe load it with a pallet of wood flooring. I would put around 10-18k miles a year. I’m willing to do some of the simpler maintenance issues such as brakes and oil changes and some things I can look up in YouTube.
