Bought 2016 Tundra CM TRD pro sight unseen with what I thought was TRD exhaust. Though I've never driven or heard one, this one I have seem to be loud with an annoying drone occasionally. Based on YT videos and forums, the TRD was more subdued with low growl. Upon inspection, I noticed "Flow FX Flowmaster" (dual) on the muffler kit, along with what looked like welded joints (custom?). Had recent MPI at the dealer and found nothing wrong on the exhaust.
    Pictures below.

I have searched online for the same setup but could not find any similar Flo FX product. The closest I could think of is a custom welded 2 pieces of Flow FX Extreme cat back attached to the TRD tail pipe kit.

In any case, I am seriously thinking of replacing the whole thing, which sucks as I didn't want to spend anymore $ and the TRD exhaust would have been perfect, but the decibels levels inside on acceleration measured at least 80-90+ through my apple watch. I have lead foot and this will destroy my hearing in a few years. Am also open to anybody selling any TRD muffler kit. Thank you in advance!

That system is completely built incorrectly. The tubing is too big even if we’re single exhaust. Being dual substantially exaggerates an already huge problem. The X is just a huge chamber which slightly resembles an X. It doesn’t do what an actual X pipe is supposed to do. Add to all this nothing to cancel out the drone and whamo!! Post to tundras.com about drone.

not only drone but drivability. Low end torque. Fuel economy are all adversely affected in a big way.

a 5.7 with stock exhaust manifolds does best with a smooth transition Y pipe and a stock 2 3/4” tailpipe. Add a flow thru muffler and you’ve gained over stock in every way possible.

we have a bolt solution which resolves all of these issues.
