    Hey All,

I have a 2004 Tundra 4.7 DC and noticed a rubbing sound coming from my engine today. Seems to be coming from the front of the engine. It increases with engine speed. Was thinking maybe a maybe a pulley or bearing for the fan? Any ideas where it's coming from?

Here is a video of the sound

Sounds like a bad (dry) bearing.

Pop off serpentine belt. Spin each bearing to figure out which it is.

Thanks @shifty` I did that and the Tension Pulley bearing sounds dry for sure. After I put the belt back on the sound seems to have gone away, but I also noticed that there is a bit of play in the Fan Pulley (it has a 1/4 in hop up and down) and I'm wondering if maybe the fan pulley bracket is going. Is a wobble on the fan pulley indicative of an issue with the bracket? The clutch seems to be fine. Here's another photo to the movement I'm seeing.

It does look a little askew, doesn't it? With regard to the fan clutch, if the truck is off and cold, grabbing a fan blade like you're going to give it a good spin for a couple of rotations, does it actually spin a couple rotations or spin for less than a full rotation? If you grab the fan itself, any play in it?

Well, sounds like the fan clutch is good at least.

Yeah, when my fan clutch went out it made more of a woo woo WOO WOO woo sound. That thing sounds like a diesel tundra.

It was the Fan Pulley Bracket. Bearing had gone, and warped the post.
