Help: Carplay Annoyance after Iphone update.

I just updated my iPhone to ios 15.2. Now after starting my truck my stereo defaults to this screen instead of the main screen with the album cover and song last played when I turned my truck off. Anyone else seeing this? I should also say that I am using the Carlink Wireless Carplay adapter.

 

It may be that you need to reflash the carlink module.

Hopefully someone has an answer for you. In the meantime, note to self - do not update my iPhone

 

Yeah mine does that too after the update even on my aftermarket headunit. Just tap the upper right corner with "bar symbol" and it will take you to album/song thats currently playing.

 

My module actually did need an update and I thought it would fix it, but nope.

 

Thats also what I have been doing but Its kind of annoying. Trying to figure out how to make it how it was before the update.

 

I was wondering if I was the only one seeing that! LOL

I'll futz around with it some today and see if I can figure something out.

Ive been messing with my settings with no luck.

 

My Carlinkit does the same on my kenwood unit. Up to date on iPhone and the wireless adapter.

 

On a side note...I just checked and there was/is an update for 'our' (non-nav) head units as of 2021 Nov. Says it specifically addresses some of these issues. I'll have to try that and see if it makes a difference.

 

If you update the phone, you need to update the headunit accordingly as well.

 

Do you have a link for the update for the non-nav?

 

How do you like the adapter? Notice any lag with this?

 

I really like the wireless ness of it but it does kind of bug out every once in a while. I notice it more if you make a few pit stops example heading to work stop for gas, stop for coffee, in one of does start ups it will stay stuck in searching. That’s when I unplug it and replug it and it’ll work good again. Other then that it works great.

 

I just went to Home (toyota.com), and then plugged in my stats (2020 Tundra with non-nav).

For the longest time it just said that Oct 2019 was the 'latest' update, but when I checked earlier today, it had an update listed for 20 Nov 2021.

 

I have an aftermarket Kenwood unit and its doing the exact same thing so its not just a toyota issue

 

Yeah, I looked at the 9to5Mac site, and there are a *ton* of people chiming in from all makes (Chevy, Ford, Ram, Toyota), so it's definitely not (just) a Toyota issue.

 

I actually beta test and I am on 15.3 and it still hasn't been fixed yet

 

Same; if you were referring to me I was speaking more of the 20 Nov 2021 Toyota firmware update. Unless you've done that already, in which case, dammit. LOL

 

It's an IOS 15.2 issue. Until Apple changes it, which isn't happening in 15.3, it will stay. I suggest everyone report this as a bug. https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone/

 

Now I wish I wouldn’t have updated but I got a new Apple watch which forced me to.

 

I’m on 15.2 with a Pioneer 7600. Mine starts at the normal home screen. Map on the left and what’s playing on the right

 

I used my phone with Carplay (wired) in my wifes Camry today. Same result. Damn you ios 15.2 !!!!!

 

What happens when you leave it on the “Home Screen”? (3 window screen)

 

I left it on this screen when I parked my truck at work this morning. I’ll report back after I leave work…

 

I always have mine on the 3-window screen and have not noticed any issues at all with iOS 15.2 on my iPhone 13 Pro. I use the CPLAY2AIR wireless adapter and have the JBL head unit with Nav (which I updated firmware on last year in June to head unit version 1047).

I do see there is now a head unit update to version 1060 and navigation update to version 1110.

 

For me, it doesn't matter. Regardless of which screen I leave it on, it comes up on the Apple 'Radio' screen (showing Music, Playlists, etc.) at the top. I have to hit the "Now Playing" button. *le sigh*

 

Wonder if my lack of this issue might be related to the fact that I don't have any of the Apple radio/music/whatever apps on my iPhone. I only use Spotify.
Just updated the Head unit to version 1060 for Radio and 1110 for Nav. Haven't driven it yet to see if there's any differences.

 

So when I started my truck after work it defaulted to the 3-window screen. I think I’ll leave it there from now on. Its better than the “Siri menu screen” I posted above.

 

I have 15.2 on my 11 PRO MAX and use it with my Kenwood DDX9906XR without this issue. Has anyone tried a system reset (volume up, volume down hold power) until you get the apple?

 

Yeah, I've got the update d/l'd to a USB stick and it's in the truck, but I've not updated yet. My guess, being as it's not just Toyotas that are experiencing this issue, is that it won't fix it.
