Welcome. I recently got back from your state (OBX). truck loaded for the week wife and kid. Drove from NJ and averaged 15.2 on the way down. Didn't check on the way back. My Nissan xterra got about the same. My truck is stock suspension and Michelin at tires. It's not that bad.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! If you can afford to go from a 2021 Tacoma to a 2021 Tundra, you can afford the gas.

    Welcome from Winston-Salem

Mileage is in that range yes. A couple of hundred of short drive miles on mine and I’m getting around 15 MPG.

It’s a relative thing though - I got about the same in my 2012 Silverado with a V6. Newer models BOAST they can get 22-26…and they do.. on a highway, going 55-60, with nothing in tow.

Real world driving - you get closer to 18 in them - vs 15 in a Tundra. 3mpg is roughly 100 gallons a year if you drive 10k miles. Not cheap - but it’s $350 - the extended warranty on a RAM cost about the same - and it’s a choice to me - I’m spending that $$ on one - to me it’s just easier to pay it in small installments at a gas station and save the need for a warranty vs paying it all up front and enjoying gas savings (by virtue of being in a small loaner car while my truck is in a dealer service bay).

The better resale is just an added benefit I guess.

That was my third Tacoma.. had a Four-cylinder which I averaged 24 to 26 miles to the gallon 2 Wd then I got a 2021 sr5 v6 4x4 I got around 24 to 25 .. then I have only had the trd off road and I was getting 18.4 to 20.5 .. but did not have long enough to really drive it on a trip just running around in the city with that fuel mileage. But I missed being in a full size truck . And while the Tacoma’s are really nice .. I wanted more power and more room inside the cab and a bigger bed .. so for me that is why I ultimately sold it today. It cost $50.00 to fill up the taco and only getting a range of 330 to 360 miles before empty with a 21 gallon tank .

I had a 2017 Tacoma trd pro. In a 2020 tundra trd pro now.

In the tacoma I would get 26mpg driving from wilkesboro area to cary/raleigh. Maybe 18mpg in the mountains.

Tundra.. lol.. I have yet to get 15mpg. Avg about 13.5, slighly lower in the mountains. Also running a bigger tire than stock though.

    You will dig the upgrade.

Damm … I see .. will I guess for trade off of a bigger cab and engine.. I guess it’s worth it to get back in a full size truck

    Welcome…from Raleigh!

Just got back from a few days in the Brevard area. Was getting 19 mpg on I-40 on the way home today. Around town is much worse, not gonna lie.

Welcome from Western NC. Gas mileage is even worse if you have a good exhaust system, lol. I have the TRD exhaust so my gas mileage sucks.

    Getting 18 to 19 is not bad Especially if it’s a four-wheel-drive.

I’m out in Wake Forest and driving around here in my 21 CrewMax Pro I get between 15 and 16. Around 14 if I get into a lot of traffic.
