    Hello from New England!

I just purchased a 2004 Tundra from a neighbor with close to 400k miles on it (but frame was replaced about 30k miles ago, along with the brake and fuel lines). As to be expected it needs a few things. I had just replaced the starter on it and will be doing the stabilizer links next, but as I drove it from around the corner to my driveway I noticed that it was leaking some transmission fluid, pretty steady. Looking under the truck it appears to be from a corroded transmission cooler hose or the union where it goes into (or out of) the pan.

Since New England is notorious for salt and moisture, I was thinking about just replacing the whole thing.

I wanted to be sure I was ordering the correct parts, if anyone can confirm this, or correct this please do! I was also going to get Toyota ATF and was thinking of dropping the pan to replace the screen filter inside as well (not sure of that PN).

Welcome from the Texas Hill Country.

I'm not a FurstGen guy, but I suspect you'll want to leave that sleeping dog of a transmission strainer laying. Only a strainer anyway. With your trucks history, and corrosion, you'll likely twist off every transmission pan bolt.

If you can break the threaded connection unions loose without ruining something (PB Blaster, patience), you can probably change the cooling lines. Others may have more information.

Edit: You'll want to get your parts guy to double-check those union part numbers. Fitment for 90407-16012 shows 3.4L V6 only; for 90407-16009 shows only to 9/2002. Some more explanation needed there.

Thanks. This is a 3.4: V6, ill see if there is a different one for 16009.

Where do you find the best place for OEM part numbers?

@JohnLakeman Where abouts in TX? I was down in Austin for a few months and then in Dallas/Ft Worth for about 4 months. And then when I bought my Datsun pickup truck a few years ago drove through Texas the long way.... nearly 1,000 miles and 24 hours of driving in the same state!

I'm about 40-50 miles west of Austin. From Beaumont/Port Arthur to El Paso on I-10 is 980 miles iirc. As I recall, driving from Houston to San Diego, you'll be about half way there when you get to El Paso.

Our site-sponsoring dealer was Toyota of Cool Springs. @Roman provided special assistance and great prices, with discounted shipping. Their parts site is still up but the dealership is closed temporarily. Another good choice would be Sparks, which has a discount for Tundras.com members:

Wish I had known that, I just ordered Wheel hubs and bearings for my Camry too, Will I will give him a shout and see if I can get the Tundra parts I need through him, always like supporting those in a community where I get value from.

    Thank you!

@Roman won't be able to help you for the forseeable future. The TOCS store is closed. Anything you need right away, try SparksParts.

Try searching for your local Toyota Stealers that are participating in the ‘Toyota Parts Programme’. Super discounted parts and if you pick up locally you eliminate shipping cost.
