    Hello fellas,

Michael here. I am the latest Tacoma-to-Tundra convert. Initially I drove a 4Runner for 3 years, but at some point I convinced myself that I needed a truck, so one good day a few weeks ago I traded it in for a Tacoma. I always wanted a truck in quicksand color, like the old classic Land Cruiser's driving around the roughest terrains overseas. I got my Tacoma TRD off-road in quicksand color and immediately mounted 33's and TRD pro wheels and grille. I loved the look of the truck. However... it only took a few days to my wife and me to get convinced that we would not be happy with a vehicle with such a cramped interior.

After 2 months of owning the Tacoma, I decided to bite the bullet and trade it in for a Tundra. We got a Tundra in specs as close as possible to the Tacoma (Limited 4x4 in quicksand color). My wife and I love the truck and are convinced that we'll keep it for at least 5 years. It's the nicest vehicle I have ever owned. I am very excited about building a sweet rig with this Tundra.

    My original Tacoma:

My Tundra, the day after I picked it up from the dealership:

And after I mounted 295/70R18's on Method's NV... (hopefully will get a lift soon):

No rubbing at all. I must qualify this though. I did remove the mud flaps and the lower front fender liners. Neither is a vital component, so I don't care. The important thing is that with my set-up (295/70R18 on 18x9in/+25 offset), I was able to clear the body mount since the start. I am not willing to do a BMC/CMC, so this was crucial for me. I have a few hundred miles with my new wheels and tires and have had no rubbing issues whatsoever. Granted, I have not flexed the front suspension fully yet. I don't plan to go wheeling before I get a lift, which should be in a few more weeks.

For others considering a similar set-up, I believe you should still be able to clear 295/70R18's with 18x9 and +18 offset. I have around a quarter of an inch of clearance right now. Anything more aggressive than +18 offset will make you rub these tires almost certainly.

Honestly had a black vehicle for a few months. It is the best looking color when clean but damn keeping it clean was a full time job. First and last time I will ever have a black vehicle. More power to you guys as my OCD couldn’t take it anymore....
