Just bought my first Toyota, a 2017 tundra with 100k on her. In the head unit settings there is a setting for headlights on sensitivity, this truck does not have auto headlights, can someone explain what this settings does?

    Welcome to the forum.
If you don't have a manual, you can find it online here.

Are you sure you don't have auto headlights?
I guess not if it doesn't say 'AUTO' in the light switch.
Is there a wired sensor in the center dash grille or a plastic plug?

Yea I checked the manual, stalk does not say auto on it. The only thing I see that could be a sensor is in the middle of the dash speaker

*I might be mistaken but the bubble in middle of your dash is the light sensor for the auto headlights. I know it is on mine and if I throw my window shade in while sunny it triggers the auto headlights and dims radio screen. Any chance your stalk was changed???

Thats what im thinking, I mentioned it to the service advisor when I had my oil changed and it had him scratching his head. Im not sure if this is the sensor or just the spot where the sensor would go if it had one, can anyone confirm?

I don't think you have a sensor in the center speaker grille.
That looks like the plug I have.
You can use a dash tool and pop the grille out if you'd like to check for wiring.
It pops straight up and out.

I would think it would be more likely that someone replaced the radio than the steering wheel stalk.
Most SR5s don't have auto headlights, especially since you don't have dual-zone climate control.
I'd think any Tundra SR5 upgrade package with auto headlights would have dual-zone A/C.

There were some Limiteds that didn't have JBL in those days.
I'd guess they may have had the auto headlights and a non-JBL radio.
Perhaps your radio was swapped out for something like that.

There is also a chance someone replaced their 2017 radio with a 2019 or 2020 and up radio.
I can't remember what year the did the HU upgrade, but they changed some of the plugs on the back of the radio.
If you pulled the radio and found adapters in the wiring, that would be the case..
