I just purchased a 2007 tundra and I can tell it has aftermarket taillights and headlights. Also has rear air shocks with a needle valve sticking out of the bumper. And I noticed my cab lights don't work, my dash lights and instrument panels light up when I press the brake pedal, my day time running lights also illuminate when I press my brake pedal. I occasionally get the ABS TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS AND VSC "OFF" LIGHTS come on and go away if you're restart the truck. But the scariest of all I noticed on day 2 of owning it I was cruising down the highway and the gas pedal would not accelerate the truck unless I let off and repressed. Please let me know what to do.

The rear probably has the helper airbags and not air shocks but it’s easy to check. If you have an airbag between the leaf spring and the frame it’s to air up and help with towing ect.

You have to love buying a truck someone has been “working” on. I would start with looking at the headlight then taillight wiring. Sounds like someone has been in there who doesn’t exactly know what they are doing. Your illumination circuit is all messed up. Look around all the fuse boxes and under the dash for wires spliced in. I would bet someone tapped into power in the wrong spot or messed up a ground connection somewhere. To fix it you most likely have to undo someone else’s mess.

The throttle pedal is drive by wire and I think is a direct link from the pedal to the intake, however if you electric under the dash and all messed up it could be glitching so to speak because of power loss or excess load.

A good multimeter and some time will probably show you what the issue is eventually.

Look at the back of the headlights or under the dash for any non factory wiring, evidence that someone has been in there. That is where I would start. I have all the wiring diagrams so if you report back with photos ect we can figure out how to “undo” it and make it right.

So further examination I unplugged and re plugged in the taillights nothing changed. I took it back to the dealer who would only let me exchange for something I couldn't afford but they're mechanic informed me the issue is because the truck has aftermarket headlights and taillights can you confirm this?. Also found out tonight that when the headlights are on the brake lights illuminate like supposed to but when you press the brake pedal they don't illuminate more to signal braking I need this fixed lol

Curious....Did you test drive this 07? Check things out before you drove it off the lot?

I'm going to incline on.... No..

Sounds electrical, bad ground somewhere on the brake circuit. Since you're losing your headlights when pressing the brake... check the kick panel ground.

@blackwolf yes, I test drove it about 15 minutes but all the issues I'm having are with the brake lights and interior lights. The brake lights I guess I could have had the sales rep press the brake while I pressed it but the interior lights I couldn't see coming on and off cause it was so bright outside.

@blackdemon_tt so I don't lose the headlights when I press the brake the headlights actually illuminate when I press the brake. The dealership mechanic went over it and said it's all happening because the aftermarket taillights and headlights and to change them back and it'll be fine. So I gotta get my hands on a set and see if it changes anything. I read another thread in this website of someone having a similar issue with aftermarket taillights

You know anybody near you with a Tundra where you can test it? Unplug both sides and plug one headlight and test it out....

In your original post you said that your daytime running lights (DRL) come on when you press the brake. There may be a problem with the taillights but I would start with the headlights. It sounds like something is not right there. I would start by disconnecting both headlights and see if the taillights work like they should.

Also, my 2008 does not have DRL. Did your 07 come with them or could someone have done some funny wiring to try and make them work?

I reread through your previous posts and I am sorry if I missed it. Do the brake lights work correctly when the headlights are off?

@huntertn when you press the brakes and the headlights are on the brakes never illuminate more than how they sit with the lights on. And when the headlights are off the brake lights come on like every other time you press it like there's a short somewhere. But I also have this issue where occasionally the vsc, traction control, and abs light come on at the exact same time. But the shop I went to couldn't pull a code cause they disappeared they said. The most concerning thing though is that when your just cruising sometimes the gas pedal will stop accelerating the truck until you lift your foot and press again

Congrats? On your new to you truck purchase. Many states require that vehicles sold by dealerships be legal for road use and able to be inspected. Otherwise they must disclose all deficiencies in an “as is” sale. If they did not, the dealership is responsible for repairing the vehicle to road worthy condition or taking the vehicle back and refunding your money. That being said, pics of these taillights and the wiring would be helpful for us to see what’s going on.

I would try to get the dealership to fix it if possible. Even if you got partial help that would be better than nothing. Depending on the state, as someone already said, it may be required to fix some items but maybe not all. Most places are probably "as is". You buy it and its yours. I don't know the specifics of you state so I will just skip that whole part of the discussion.

These problems could all be related but I would approach them as separate issues at first.

The throttle is electric. So I would first check to see if the connector at the pedal is secure. I would probably disconnect it, make sure that the pins in the connector look OK and plug it back in. It could just be a loose connection. Start simple first.

The lights - ugh - where to start is just a guess. If it were me I would disconnect both headlights and see if that fixes the taillights (with headlight switch on and with it off). I would also see if I could figure out what brand of headlight you have while you are messing with the connectors. Hopefully, the factory connectors are still there and it is not just a bundle of butt splices. If you know what kind of light it is that would help you figure out if they are hooked up correctly. Most LED headlights will have instructions that will help you figure out if they are hooked up correctly. Similar to this:

    https://www.headlightrevolution.com...T_66c2xNLqPh-F0sV1lUACk5VMDbv82ScPvQGJx5y_PKw

It could be the taillights are the issue but we have to start somewhere.

I would leave the warning lights for last. This chart in another recent thread will probably help with that.

@KNABORES I did go out and take some photos of the wiring under the truck one immedialty weird thing is you'll see the driver side has a random red wire running to them that the passenger side does not. 20220317_152916.jpg 20220317_152913.jpg 20220317_152916.jpg 20220317_152913.jpg

@huntertn this actually helps alot my lights are kinda leading to speed sensors for the abs traction control and vsc, but still need to figure out the gas pedal and lighting stuff. I believe by looking st aftermarket tundra lights that the light son the truck are the spyder brand headlights and tailights.
