Is it common for first gen tundras to have the headlights on all the time while the truck is running?

My headlights in my 2005 Acces Cab Limited are on if the truck is on, but get a little brighter when I switch the controls to the ‘on’ position. Is that how it’s supposed to be? If not is it customizable?

I know on the 2nd gen’s there is a small bulb in the headlight assembly that’s always on except when headlights are on

That is the truck's DRLs, Daytime running lights.
There should be a gray connector between the battery and the fender you can unplug if you'd like to turn them off.

I had them on my 2005 double cab.

    It is the D2 connector.
