I'm weighing my options for what to do to upgrade headlights. I've got a pair of BD Squadron Sport fogs waiting to be installed. After I do that, I'm afraid the headlights just won't seem adequate.
I have a 2018 SR5 with the headlights with the single LED strip on the bottom as opposed to the 2018+ with dual LEDs strips. (Why Toyota made a 2018 truck without 2018 parts I don't understand)
As I see it I have 3 options:
    1) Toss in some VLED bulbs and call it a day.
    2) Aftermarket (Spyder/Recon...)
    3) 2019 TRD Pro with black housing

Questions though, would the '19 Pros be fully plug and play, would I need a 3rd party harness (@iHacker) and would it require further finagling, would I still need to put in VLEDs or is the 2019 assembly fully led?

I tend to overthink and overanalyze things like this. Which way should I go? Or, no mod at all?

Supposed to be plug and play, also I contacted and they said these headlights have the motor built In so you can adjust from the dial in the dash just like stock

You sure on that price? Or just going off the Tacoma version? I would think they would be about 1600

If you go with the 2019 Pro headlights you need a harness, the conversion is straight forward and 100% plug n play with the harness, your truck uses the same harness used for previous 2018s Platinum/1794 trucks, this 2 trims were the only ones equipped with the single LED strip as DRL.

Also the new Morimoto gonna be a great option, definitely with a better light output but pricey.

Nice. Last I had checked they were "coming soon" without a price. I think 1250 is reasonable for those.

I did the 2019 pro led and harness from @iHacker, love them, one of the best mods I have done to the truck. See @Roman for the headlights.

The morimoto ones are sure to be nice. Everything I have had from them is good. They will obviously give a custom high end look and I'm sure the output will be on par with factory led projectors found on high end manufacturers. With that being said it will come with a nice $$$ tag and it will be aftermarket.
I went with the 2019 pro led housings with the ihacker harness. Oem like harness with OEM lights. Much better than factory halogens but still not unbelieveable output. At the end of the day I know its reliable and does a good enough job. If I need more I just turn on my rigid led bar and I'm set.
Up to you. Go with what feels right.

I used iHackers harness...plug and play...took about an hour to swap in the headlights and I did the 2018 LED fog lights.

Headlights from Roman are about $282 ea, harness from iHacker was $140. Fogs, you really don't need to do but I did them anyway. I don't remember the price on the fogs. All in it was cheaper than whatever these guys are selling for just headlights...WOW.

For those who have gone to the 2019 Pro headlights, are the bulbs that come factory sufficient, or are you swapping out bulbs to something from VLED or elsewhere?

Sweet looks like that the way I will go. I won’t be dealing fog lights since I already installed Baja Designs Sqaudron Sport fog light. BD are flame throwers.
Swaping head lights will be a fun project.

The 18 plus headlights are a sealed housing meaning you cant change the bulbs, erything is built in. The leds are sufficient

Toyota does not use a projector like the high end cars, Mercedes, Acur, Cadillac ect... those have a projector like an hid projector. It focuses the light much better. The tundra headlights are not in a projector. Good light output just not what it could be

I have Spyder but I’m saving my pennies for those Morimotos. I’m confident they will be bright and you can swap bulbs if they burn out.
Now that I have found out you need to replace the entire headlight with the Toyota LED I’m taking them off the list.

I wonder if anyone has had luck getting their local dealer to price match Roman's pricing on parts to save the shipping cost?

I like the look of the Spyders, but the 19 Pros are pretty sexy and $600 for the pair isn't awful. The Morimotos look great too, but that's a hefty price tag.

I assume they'd be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty if they came stock, but if I buy them as an add-on any idea what the warranty is on them? Kind of a pain to have to change the whole housing if something goes out.

I’m still using the included turn signal bulbs no issues and they are bright, I only replaced the side makers with LEDs, still waiting on the turn signal but trying to avoid those because all of them require resistors to work normally as turn signal.

The only user replaceable bulbs in the entire housings are the side maker bulb (194 LED), and the turn signals (7444NA or 7443NA) the rest is not replaceable (Lo and Hi beam)

Can someone sell me on the Spyders? The 15% EBay coupon going right now has me thinking I should give them a shot...

If these morimoto really do have the level adjustment motors built in I will most likely go for them.

I'm sure even if they don't, the motors from your stock headlights will fit and work. That's how it is with Spyder headlights as far as I know.
I really like these headlights. The sequential blinker is really cool.
