Head unit randomly freezes up and resets

This has been an ongoing problem for my toyota dealer. Toyota central has second Radiohead replacement on back order. For a month. iPhone works in 2 Rav 4, sienna and 2 Lexus some older than truck. Apparently toyota does not know how to fix short of trying to sell me a new truck. IV been a toyota fan for many years and many cars/trucks but they have been working on this for over a year. Ridiculous! They just don’t have the tech knowledge needed to fix it.

 

So....the update didn't work? I had the same issue and did the update on my 14 myself. Fixed it.

What exactly does not work and did it work at one time?

 

All worked before. Now phone calls get dropped in 1-2 Min. Every time. Occasionally. Head reboots for not apparent reason.

 

I have 2015 tundra limited with navigation.

I get the head unit (radio touch screen)randomly resetting while driving too. Nothing specific corresponds to it.

Sometimes it won't boot at start up and i get skid and airbag lights on dash and blank head unit. Then after 5 minutes or so radio will boot on.

I updated software via USB. Paired and unpIred multiple different types of phones... no luck.

My wireless key lock doesn't work sometimes too. When i approach vehicle and hit unlock and it didn't work... i know head unit will likely not kick on.

7 month old battery fully charged.

I just cleared 108,000 miles and maintenance required light is on, but that is a standard Toyota thing at different mile threshold.

Any solutions?

UPDATE..... I reset head unti to default. Then deleted personal data from Unit (This wiped out my NAvigation presets) and 3 rides later Unit reset again mid drive. Then this morning no Keyfab entry and Unit blacked out until I was 10 minutes into my journey. Frustrating!

 

Took to dealer and of course it didn't happen while it was there. They saw my after market starter and blamed that.

I have removed remote starter and head unit still freezes and interior lights and wireless entry won't work from time to time.

Will take back to dealer.

 

You need to record it with your phone and show them.

 

Well, I completely went through all of my fuses under the hood and found a non labeled fuse loose. After several hours of back and forth between audio dealer and Toyota service, I found it myself.



I have since reinstalled aftermarket starter and I'm back in business.
