I have a 2011 CrewMax SR5 with a Kenwood DNX996XR running CarPlay from an iPhone 11. Like others, I get an occasional HU reset, but not anything frequent. When it happens, the HU and the iPhone reconnect, and everything is running as it is supposed to be.

However, there is one particular intersection that when I get within about 1/8th of a mile from it, rom any direction, my HU shuts off completely, and I lose Bluetooth/Wifi and any data services to the iPhone. The iPhone will recover once I get about 1/4 of a mile away from the intersection, but I usually have to pull over, turn off my truck, then restart in order to get the Kenwood to come back on. The iPhone and HU link back up fine after that, like nothing happened. It only happens at this particular intersection, and it happens every single time that I am near it or crossing it. It is the only place in the city that it happens at. (For Austin Metro residents, it is the intersection of Hwy 183 and Loop 360). I have cause to cross that intersection about 1-2 times per month, and it has done this every time that I approach that intersection for about 1 year now. It happened once while I had a co-worker in the truck with me, and he said that it could be one of the businesses at one of the corners of the intersection broadcasting some sort of wireless suppression/jamming. I looked that up, and it is against FCC regulations (which, granted, doesn't mean that someone isn't doing it, but it just sounds unlikely). Whatever the cause, it knocks my HU completely off, and it doesn't power back up on its own. I have to turn the truck off to get it to come back.

I wondered what is causing it, and if anyone else has encountered this where they live (or if any other Austin metro residents have encountered this at this intersection. My coworker has not encountered it, but he has a Camaro with a stock stereo that he cable connects his Android to).

    Any thoughts on this oddity?

Keeping Austin weird! Probably an Area 51 situation going on over there. Google and Facebook are located just south of there. I pass it on occasion and never had a problem.

Yeah, it seems to be limited to just me. I've talked to a couple of buddies, and they don't have problems with the stereos in their cars, but they are both hard cabled into their factory stereos (both GM vehicles, one is using an iPhone, the other is using an android).

I've only been here for a year (moved here from Amarillo last year), and there is no danger of Austin NOT being weird. LOL
