Thought I heard about someone going through a carwash and had the rear bumper (side) cover come off. There is a space between the metal bumper and the painted wrap-around plastic which seems like a weak point. Just wondering if anyone had or heard of any issues while going through a carwash.

My truck is too tall for automatic car washes, but I spray the hell out of my panels with the manual wand. Never had an issue with something flying off.

I've only gone through a touchless, but will likely do the standard drive through wash soon.

If parts fall off from this, I guess it will be an excuse to speed up the plan for high clearance bumpers.

been thru 2 different car washes, 1 i wont go back the other i go thru about once every 1-2 weeks for the wife (its her truck). i'd say about 10-15 times this year so far. nothing so far except 1 scratch from the wipe down, but meh, we dont care. its going to happen regardless.

you should see the scratches we had on our 2018 from car washes and winter slush and rocks since the poke was about 1/4 inch on the wheels/tires.

in the end we still got very good resale. if you dont have major blemishes, dealer trade in wont affect resale.

we have a place called tidal wave here they have brushes and I guess the truck is to wide that when they go on the left side it will fold the mirror back! so I went to another place called tjs and this time my right mirror was pushed back. So now on I either hand wash or use a touchless car wash

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
You gotta be more specific. Touchless or traditional brushing wash? I am staying the fuck away from a brushing wash with my new truck. Either hand wash or touchless to be lazy in between.

Many times we have a surfthru just make sure you fold in your mirrors before entering.
No problems yet and magnetic flags stay on.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
Never have since a long long time ago the car wash came off it's rail and bashed the shit out of my poor little truck. The station told me to F off - so my insurance paid for the repair and sent them the bill. After that (like 40 years ago) I have never gone to a car wash. It stays dirty until the weather is nice enough to clean it at my home. To each their own. I prefer the home wash routine.
