    Hello all,

Seems like a lot of folks on here have dealt with the P2441 error code. I'm hoping someone can chime in before I make a potentially dumb move.

From what I've read, the air system switching valve errors are common in early model Tundras. I've read that they won't affect performance, so as long as you don't live in a state that requires a passing emissions test, you should be good to go. Is this true?

I plan on buying a bypass kit pretty soon, but with shipments being delayed worldwide I might not have the luxury of time at the moment.

I'm moving approximately 650 miles away in about a week.

I'm wondering, will I be alright if I haul a small uhaul that distance while the truck could potentially go into limp mode?

I haven't experienced limp mode yet, but I did just experience the 4LO light, CEL, and traction control lights combo. My speed was not limited however, so I'm not sure if I officially went into limp mode.

I have a BlueDriver reader, so I can reset the engine code daily if needed. Will that be enough to keep it out of limp mode for the trip?

I hate to even ask. Normally I wouldn't even think about moving it without the bypass installed, but like I said time is definitely not on my side right now.

Thanks in advance for all advice.

I suffered the P2441 code and limp mode both. Once the truck was warmed up I could clear the code and it would be okay. After a few weeks of dealing with this I went to Auto zone and bought some throttle body cleaner hoping it would free up a sticky valve or clean a sensor. After cleaning the throttle body, the code went away and has not returned.

I’m having the same code on mine. The Trac off and Check engine light came on. Is your truck better now since you did that?

Truck gave out about a month later. I had to pull the intake manifold and found the valve rusted up on bank 1. Pulled the pump motors on the passenger side wheel well and found bank 1 motor full of water. Had to replace the two pump motors and the valve assembly. Bought the two pump motors and new valve assembly on Amazon for about $400 and spent 2 days replacing them in the garage. A lot cheaper than the dealer wanting $2500. It also solved my parasitic current draw on my truck battery. Toyota has a redesigned trumpet tube for the pump motors to keep the water out. So I bought one from the dealer for about $60. I found some good information on youtube to do the whole job.

I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow to see what the damage would be. That way I’ll know exactly what it is so o can try to figure out what to do in my DIY garage lol. Thanks for the response. I might ask you a few more questions as I try to fix it if that’s ok lol

That's fine. I've got pictures of the whole process somewhere and saved the youtube link of a fellow doing the whole job. It's work, but it saves quite a bit of cash. This job also allowed me to do the $400 throttle body cleaning at that time it was due.

By the way tell them to check your warranty. This is covered under some circumstances longer than other failures. Unfortunately, my 2008 Tundra was 1 year out of warranty for this issue.
