Has anyone installed the Meso customs blackout kit?

I am considering this kit/bundle but one of the reviews mentions cutting/grinding and gluing. I wanted to check if anyone has installed this kit and the difficulty they experienced during install. Thanks in advance.

 

What part had issues? Lots of folks have the Meso stuff and like it. @Meso is also on the forum.

 

I went with AJT and never looked back..

Parts are of good quality but there are no installation instructions provided on the website, youtube channel or on box for this kit. Beware that its not just screws and clips. You will have to grind and drill plastic welds and glue pieces together to achieve proper fit.

 

So the plastic welds is for the shifter surround. Only way to get the stock piece off. So AJT/Meso/ or any aftermarket piece will all require the same work. I had to grind mine to paint the piece, just use some hot glue to re-assemble.

Maybe for the cup holder trim, honestly I don't remember.
@RobertD pretty much sums it up.
A Dremel will do it.

The AC vents are simple stick-on with included double-sided tape.
AJT used to sell an awesome steering wheel center cover but got a C&D from Toyota to stop selling them.

Looks like Coop's sells one.

I just installed the Meso kit not long ago. I did not use the vent rings as I already had some made by a member here. But I wrote up some instructions for how to replace the shift gate trim piece on the last page of this thread.

I will say the Meso shift gate looks nicer, but I used the AJT 'cover'.
It does stick up a little, but it snapped right into place.

Meso kit. Very happy with it.

 

It's super easy to install and the Meso stuff looks way better in my opinion.

 

With patience, this is a very easy install. I went with the same kit and the most annoying part for me was the AC vents, only because of the disassembly required. As mentioned, the shifter part required some work, but I did it at a storage unit without a dremmel or anything. i love my kit after. the last 4 trucks I have owned I had to get rid of the chrome glare shifter ring and this is by far my favorite of the options I have done.
