My’18 w/ 72k miles just started leaking on drivers side. I noticed burnt oil smell after driving it hard and sure enough, you can see it sweating oil under there. It hasn’t leaked a drop on the floor and the oil level hasn’t moved a bit. Just wondering if it will get worse or just keep leaking the same? Obviously the warranty is gone and it doesn’t bother me at this point so, I was hoping just to let it go. My plan is to keep this truck a very long time also.

If the plan is to keep for a long time. I would get it repaired. Find somebody who has done the repair. And should be good to go if done correctly.

It’s a nonissue as long as it’s not gushing out. All vehicles will leak at some point. I had it happen on one of my previous tundras. It was under warranty so I got it done but if I didn’t have warranty I wouldn’t have done anything. Just keep your eye on it. There is a huge thread on this.

My 2010 was wet there and was never an issue. I never got it fixed. My current truck the previous owner had fixed under warranty right before he traded it, and in the process they had the cab off and caused me issues with mistakes they made after I purchased it. Here we are 12,000 miles later and it’s wet there again and out of warranty. No plans to fix it again.

Just think of all the 1000s of people out there that have no idea about the cam tower leak. Their trucks aren’t exploding.

Saw mines leak at 120k miles when I was doing a tune up. Currently at 209k miles, I still haven’t fixed it, doesn’t leak on my driveway then it’s not a problem.

Only thing that’s a little concerning to me is I can smell the oil burning after I run it hard. I’ll just keep my eye on it I guess. Thanks for the replies !

If it leaks oil, it has oil...$2‐3k to fix...oil is cheaper no matter what...I'd live with it...

Mine weeps on the driver's side. If I ever rip it apart to upgrade the rods and pistons then I'll fix it.

If it gets to Jeep 4.0L drip status then I might fix it early.

Could always spray it down with degreaser from time to time to try and reduce the amount sitting there. It’s not under extreme pressure or a full column of oil inside where it leaks. It’s just oil that splashes up on a ledge and the small amount of pressure in the crankcase makes it seep out slowly.
