2017 Tundra Flex Fuel 5.7L. Recently when it's my first start of the day my engine doesn't want to start. I'm parked on my driveway nose up. When I leave work at night i don't have the same problem. My assumption is it's a fuel issue. Like clogged line, pump going bad or something along those lines. Anyone else have this problem?

Hard start as in, it shudders to start then revs up?? If so, you will need to have the dealer re-learn the fuel/alcohol mixture. I had that problem.

Mine did it on colds starts. No hills in South Louisiana. But it got so bad that on a cold morning, it would shudder and die. Needed 2nd attempt to start up. Even had my dealer do the fuel rail pressure leak down test (I think that is the terminology). That was not the problem. I tried to get them to call it a computer glitch, but they wouldn't buy that. Ended up costing a little over $100 bucks, but haven't had the problem since and that was almost 2 years ago.

Flex fuel engines have had some issues like that, dealer visit to check the items and mixtures related to flex fuel/alcohol

Been having starting issues for some time now. After trying an assortment of fixes, none with long term success, Toyota says my ECM needs to be reprogramed. Having 45000 miles on my 2017 tundra with the 5.7, I am hoping it will still be covered under warranty as it has been an ongoing issue for over two years. Sounds like engine is flooded and starts billowing smoke until it clears. Occasionally, it will not start unless I push pedal clear to the floor. Has anyone heard of Toyota acknowledging this problem and coming up with a permanent fix?

I had the problem when I purchased the truck used in Feb 2020. Had the fuel pump replaced and the ecu reprogrammed by the Toyota dealer. Now Oct 2022 I’m starting to get a shudder when I start the truck again. 2017 ffv 5.7. At this point I may just trade in for a 2020 or 21 only owing 14k

Check out this service bulletin. You should be covered under warranty for a new fuel pump and ecu program.
