Looking for a weather tight panel tonneau that is east to take on and off. Any suggestions?

If you want a one piece, non folding tonneau, the undercover se and elite are great options. Super easy to remove and very lightweight. They come with some wall brackets to hang it on a wall when it's off of the truck.

Some of the models can be ordered color matched as well. They are all abs plastic, not fiberglass like a snuglid, ARE or Leer.

If by "panel" tonneau, you are referring to a folding cover, take your pick. The Bak options and undercover options can be folded and removed by loosening one screw on each side. The rails will stay in place, but take up next to no room.

I just looked at Lomax and BAK. It looks like the Lomax is definitely easier to remove. I'd need to have it off probably 1/2 the time.

Once installed the Bak mx4 can be removed from the truck in less than 2 minutes without any tools. If you're fast you could probably do this in a minute. You unscrew two hand knobs that holds the front portion of the cover to the truck rails and the cover can pop off. Not sure how much faster the lomax is.

Bak tri fold don't even need to remove, I drove with the cover all the way open leaning against the cap with the build in rods that hold the cover open.
If you want to see through the back and don't need to carry weight on cover, you could buy the Bak Revolver cover, it roll open and straps hold it open.

It takes less than two minutes to remove the bakflip, so I guess he Lomax only takes one minute!

Nice cover, happy with it so far.

I watched a couple of videos of it. When you say "not that light", can you handle it by yourself. Also, can you still use the factory track rails when you put the mounting rails on for the Lomax? Thanks

Weathertech tri fold is super easy to remove. Fold up, unhook carabiner and lift off. Only downside is that it gets VERY hot in the summer. No water leakage either, except around tailgate, but tailgate seal will fix that

I can handle it myself yes, does it have some weight? Yes. Its basically 3 1/8" (might be a bit thicker) aluminum panels with some reinforcement.
I'm used to soft covers, those are super light but offer little security. Cheaper too but last between 3 -5 years.

When I chose the options (got it from RealTruck) I went for the cover made for use with factory rail kit. Color was black urethane. Looks like the bed spray stuff.
With a rough texture I cant see scratches and its almost like roofing shingle texture.

Biggest deal killer on the Peragon for most is sliding cargo intruding into space it needs when folded, making it impossible to
Open when you stop prior to getting under there and clearing that space.

I have heard that may be an issue. I cant say I have read anywhere in which it is a confirmed problem (definitely not saying it is not possible). I dont have one myself, but I have the spray in bedliner and honestly, nothing really moves in the bed. And if interested, they are doing a pretty good deal for Primeday. The option to lock it and how easy it removes is pretty killer.

Different truck but my lomax tri fold is really easy to remove if needed. Fold the first two panels, unhook the carabiner, pull the latch and lift up and off.

I mean it's out there if you dig that you have to plan the load in your bed around the cover. Maybe more so than with a canister because that last fold starts to dip down and eat away height that you started with as you retract. That seems like an even bigger irritant to me than just losing a consistent 6-12 inches of bed by the cab.

Many seem to like them so much they accept that and work around it. Doesn't get much mention on youtube as you have to sift through all the channels where people depend on goodwill to get them manufacturer free samples to find people who actually bought them and decided to review with no punches pulled.
    https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/peragon-bed-cover-versus-retractable-tonneau.11515/

I'm not crapping all Over them as a bunch of people seem to feel pros outweigh cons and I can't argue with that. Something like a Bak x4 just seems like a better compromise to me. When we hit up our vacation rental we use every inch of the bed. I could probably work with a canister if I absolutely had to but not something that folds down into the cargo area to open after I packed.

Not sure about Lomax but the BAK-MX4 is probably 40 lbs or so. Similar to a large bag of dog food in weight. It's just awkward to move b/c of the length/dimensions of the cover when folded. Even with multiple physical disabilities I'm able to this alone. If you are missing an arm or a leg it may be a little harder but otherwise you should still be able to remove the cover from the bed in 1-2 minutes. But with the BAK you probably just need to fold it up to the glass to carry really large items and won't need to remove the cover at all. This would probably be the same for the Lomax. on the BAK there are still the factory rails and sliding clamps that can be used so nothing changes in terms of mounting points.

The Bak can be folded up all the way up to the glass window and includes a stand feature to hold it up so you access to the entire bed less the 6 inches of space required for the tonneau to remain on the bed with the cover in the full up position. Lomax can't do this.

Lomax: Full cover, 2/3 cover, 1/3 cover, then off.

BAK-MX$: Full cover, 2/3 cover, 1/3 cover, 10% bed cover with Tonneau in up position which allows 90% access of the bed to carry stuff taller than the bed height.

I drive with the back window down when the weather is nice.... I dont hear a thing over the radio blasting. LOL
Nope its very solid, dont hear a thing and hope it lasts longer than the truck does.

Soft covers tend to make noise (rattle) as the wind goes over the soft material. Happened to the cover on my Tacoma. (especially as the cover gets older)

I would stay away from the Lomax cover. Ordered one and the latch was faulty on the passenger side. I went back and forth with customer service and they kept saying it was operating correctly. I didn't order directly from Agri-cover but ended up sending it back and Agri-cover wanted to charge a restocking fee to the dealer which then would have been passed on to me because the cover could have been fixed...even though they told me it was operating correctly.

Yes it is easy to remove and is probably a decent cover if everything works as advertised. If it doesn't....good luck with getting a resolution with their customer service.

    Boom...

Very happy with my MX4 so far.

Very little water intrusion (Maybe a tiny bit in the corners when you run it through a car wash)

    Two knobs and it's off.

Seems stout enough to be secure (at least enough to keep honest people out)

Can carry 400 lbs on top.

I've always run campers shells before this truck... this is my first tonneau so I have no frame of reference to compare this to anything else, but my research led me to the Bakflip and I'm happy with it.

I liked the features of the mx4 but there were many discussions in the forum about bakflip being the oem vendor for the recalled Toyota covers. There was some back and forth between it being an mx4 or the g2.

So with that I decided to find another brand cover.

Mine was painless! The place I bought it from installed it for me super cheap.

They're just a few doors down from my office, and I sell them fasteners at basically no markup so he takes care of me.

He installed the tonneau, ran the drain tubes out the front between bed and cab, and ran power from battery back into the bed for me for like $50

Everybody I've heard comment about the install has said it's pretty straight forward though, just measure carefully to line it up straight and even and it's a cakewalk. An hour, two at the outside.
