What’s up guys. I’ve recently started hand washing my tundra and 4Runner for various reasons. My biggest problem is living in west Texas I don’t exactly have “Shade” to wash my truck in.

My question is how do you guys overcome this issue?

My first thought is a pop up awning from costco or something. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Joe

Like these guys said, very early or late in the evening. My favorite time to wash is sunset. The awning will help but it's a big truck and the paint will still get really hot

Plant a tree. It should provide shade right around the same time Toyota makes a diesel.

I’m a morning guy and usually in bed at 8:30-9 due to work. I’ll just start doing it in the AM

Idk how the hell you live in Houston. I spent last weekend in Lufkin. We went bow fishing on Sam R and red fishing in Louisiana. The humidity was miserable!

You could also do waterless washes or rinseless washes when possible.

Early morning / evening, no rinse wash, or take your stuff down to a self serve wash bay and do it there.

Early morning. It's an excellent way to wake up and reward yourself with a clean truck

I wash my truck in daylight as well. I never give the water a chance to dry on the truck. I wash a section at a time and continuously wet the whole truck down never allowing the water to dry on the truck until I’m ready to dry it off with a towel. I don’t have any water spots. Also washing it early in the morning or late afternoon helps

I prefer early morning because the truck had time to cool down overnight. The truck is still pretty warm in the evening. I try to get up around 5AM when the days are longer and do it then. That said, sometimes there's no choice but to do it in the evening.
