Purchased Tundra after getting a bigger trailer. I’m full time on the road. Don’t like being tied to the trailer, initially wanted just a truck camper but it’s been such a long wait, decided to try a trailer. So, plan is to do trailer in part time and take off in the truck camper to more easily explore. The truck will be a light/intermediate overland build. Used for state parks, boondocking, and some deeper off-road spots.

Have a GFC on order. Starting to prepare the Tundra for it. Looking to add bed liner. Lowest price in this area is $500 for ultimate linings. Hadn’t heard of them before. Two other shops quoted for $800 but didn’t ask their chemical.

    1. prep bed with liner
    2. “Seal” bed rails for water
    3. Bed stiffeners, probably Total Chaos
    4. Ordered Rhino xtreme D6 steps/rocker panel protector
    5. Double bulb seal

Thinking of adding a bed rug once the GFC is on. Add a max fan. Buy a Bluetti power bank and flexible solar panel for roof.

Gonna keep it basic with a couple of tubs and minimal gear for a while. But looking forward to an enclosed space I don’t have to break down in the dirt :)

If I had to do it over again - I'd get a bedrug that would be so much nicer on the knees. Other than that the GFC is pretty cool - I don't think you need bed stiffeners as I don't see an issue with mine. I also live in the PNW so water intrusion for me was solved with double bulb seal on the bed rails, I haven't had any problems so far.

Adding double bulb seal to the list. What ladder did you get? I’m gonna find one lighter than the current one I got that extends to 12.5 ft.

This is what I ended up building in the back. I’m short, so able to sit on the drawer without opening the top. I’ve hung out in the back several times with a nice view of the ocean and did have room for a friend to sit in a backpacking chair.
