Just wanted to post my findings. Been lurking and thought I would contribute. Pulled out of the driveway the other day slowly (after heavy rain all night) so I could release the kraken of 55 gallons in my bed liner and on acceleration to my surprise, water pissed all over my coffee cup and phone playing light the torch- die alone (great song) At the u turn which takes 5 min, I whipped out my pocket screw driver and pulled down the map lamp to find the sponge soaked. I drove to work pissed knowing that in the hot sun later on lunch break my truck is going to smell like a dogs ass. This weekend I pulled the interior trim, carpet and headlining and reinstalled the seat knowing I’ll have to drive this way for a few days. Upon inspection no water staining was obvious but with a water test I verified the leak was coming from the front windshield at the top. Also low and behold I found the rear sliding window had water near the driver side creeping in and running down to the tool area. The third brake light was the culprit for the rear and I resealed with Toyota seal packing rtv I had left over from past repairs. Great time to pressure wash the carpet and clean all the interior pieces before installation. Enjoy your week boys hope I helped someone.

Oh and for those of you who want to do a “weight reduction”.... the sound deadening from the factory is top notch. I can’t believe the noise with no interior.

I drove my truck with only a drivers seat to work one time. (100-ish miles round trip.)

Sound level was rowdy. I can't imagine a V8 or a modified exhaust like @FrenchToasty or whomever else has a loud one.

Pull and Clean that Rubber Gasket of the sliding rear window and clean/blow the weep holes. Should drain out of the invisible gutter system (behind bottom window trim).

Clean it up, either upholster it or not, or febreeze it and sell it to a dealer before it rains.

Dew it. Pull the interior, or at least the rear seats, and passenger seat. Carpet too.

Vroom vroom would be nice with V8.

I considered pulling the carpet and bed linder the floor, but I have read that its pretty bad for your health. There is that lizard skin which is safe but it would cost almost $500, That's too expensive. I would really like an option other than carpet.

Nope. V8’s need more sound deadening, and less muffler.

to punish the people in valleys.

When you do it for a living... selling your vehicle to the dealer for a water leak would get ya tied to the lift and someones grabbin the cheetah tank...

Worth the effort to clear the sunroof drains before they clog. When it backs up into your headliner you might be going the febreeze/dealer route.

@KKJC2654 What do you think caused the leak at the windshield? I have a similar situation and I blame the glass installer and cheap replacement trim moulding. Only place on my vehicle where it rusts on the exterior.

Yeah I am going to blame the previous installer. I purchased the truck in 18' with 268k for 1500 bones. Its a 4x4, put a new timing belt/ wp I have 290k on it now and this just popped up outa nowhere. The guy probably went light in that one spot, not to mention its probably had like 8 windshields by looking at the urethane build up near the a pillars lol

Stuck it all back together today. The windshield installer that did the previous windshield did not use primer so the roof skin which is 3 layers of thin metal started to rust where he scraped into the paint to remove old urethane. So the water was traveling into the vehicle where the rust had eaten a path past the urethane. Sanded all that down with a wizz wheel and primed it then had the windshield installed. Time now to sit in the nicely detailed interior and watch bob lee swagger pop some goons. Cold one required.

SO did you figure out the front leak? I'm having the same problem in the front. ASAIK the windshield has never been replaced. I'll double check with the rignal owner and find out. The moonroof is sealed as far as I can tell but I'm still getting water in the front area. Planning on removing the glass and running wire down the drains to check but any other thoughts would be appreciated.
