Went to install my new oem grille, painted to match the truck, color seems a little off but has to look better than the stock crome. However as I go to remove the bolts they are just turning and not coming off. It appears due to poor design with the plastic backing and truck being 12yrs old. Any input as to how I can get these off without destroying the old grille?

These are the problems, they just spin and do not come loose

Are the studs metal coming out of plastic on the old grille? , The studs are just spinning in the plastic? Try using an open end wrench and then grabbing the stud with vice grips or adjustable wrench to break the nut loose.

If the metal studs are spinning inside the plastic then even if you did remove the screws it's unlikely that you could screw them back in. It'll be easier to accept that the old grill can't be saved. I would get stainless hardware to install the new grill and use anti-seize on the threads to keep it from happening again.

Have you tried holding the bolt part with pliers as you turn the wrench on the nut?

The bolts are enclosed in plastic so no way to have pliers hold the back, will just have to cut them out I guess

I'm not trying to hijack your thread :D, but where did you get your painted grill?
I am looking to change my chrome to color matched as well.
