Something that has been bugging me a bit since buying my truck is the grille. It is fading and has a lot of marks on it from wear and tear, and I have been wondering about how to go about restoring the grille, or whether I should just buy a new one, but I'd rather spend that ~200$ on something else. The vinyl part, or whatever material it is, is the only part that's fading, as well as the V8 logo itself. The steel parts are all fine. Also, both the V8 logo and the Toyota Logo shake quite a bit when you put a finger on em and slightly jiggle it around, so I'd also like any input on getting them to stay seated and not jiggle about.

Does anyone have any recommendations on going about restoring this sort of stuff?

Here's a picture below of the grille. Kinda zoomed out, but the best picture I have at the moment. You can see the slight fading on the grille and especially on the V8 logo.

Only bit of info that I can give is that I'm pretty sure it's common for the studs to break when removing the grill. I believe @daveeasa had to deal with this on his California truck.

It was more that I had to cut one or two off because the nut was so siezed that the plastic couldn’t hold the head. But good riddance.

If that TEQ grille comes through I think it’s a worthy upgrade.

And if not or for cheap, a new plastic black or paint to match or chrome is worth it too.

I say anything under 300 is ok. It changes the look to have a clean grille. 200 is reasonable. The cheapo $70 isn’t bad.

why not remove it, paint it or dip it.. do it right, several coats... could you just glue the emblems to keep em from rattling?

Hmm, thanks for the input. Do you have any pics of your grille?

This was a thought, but I have never painted anything before and was looking for input before making the decision myself. As for the emblems, I guess I could use glue but I am just concerned it won't fit it for long...

Therers lots of great how to videos on you tube.. some good plasti dip / hyper dip products.. hyper dip looks good but i havent tried it and is moreexpensive.. it will chip over time so def wanna do multiple coats. be a fun easy little project and then if you dont like it, you can just buy the upgrade and say you tried and get some paint or dip experience.

Very true. I have some friends who plasti dipped their logos and badges and stuff on their rides, so I'll definitely look to them if I need any guidance.
