Hey there Tundra community. I’ve got a 2020 SR5 and want to replace the grille with a color match surround. I can get a 2017 grille and want to swap the insert with what’s on my 2020.

Is the 2017 surround compatible with the 2020 insert so all of the clips and hardware fit?

Yes it will but be careful as those clips are known to break easily.

    do they ever.
Its been nearly a decade since I added my pro grille and still distinctly remember how tense and unenjoyable it was trying to be as gentle as possible to remove the OEM grill and still have clips left to snap in the new one.

Use some channel locks pliers, one jaw on the end of the clip, other jaw on the piece you are removing. A little (seriously, just some pressure) and you can pop the clips with ease. I've removed 3 inserts now and using the channel locks, I've broken 1 clip. It now takes a few minutes.

But without the channel locks, it is definitely stressful and time consuming, and you have a really high chance of breaking a clip no matter how careful you are being.

Can you post a photo or video of your channel lock method?

Won't there be an issue with mounting the cruise control radar? Or am I not thinking straight?

He's keeping the original insert so the sensor shouldn't be an issue. He's only swapping the surrounds.

Ah, thank you. I read it backwards as replacing the grille but keeping the surrounds. Knew I was missing something...
