Is the empyre offroad trd pro style grill insert still the best non oem option? Anyone have any issues? I just need the insert since my surround is already color matched. Is it that easy to break any of the tabs?

Empyre or MC Auto seem to be the go to and I think both sell just the insert.

It is easy to break the tabs, just take your time. I used some channel locks (1 jaw on the top of the tab, other jaw on the surround lip) gentle pressure, and a small screw driver should help pop the insert free of the surround. Leave the surround/insert in the sun so the plastic is warm to help them not break. Start on 1 side and just work around. If you break some, don't worry since there will be enough remaining to hold it securely

I did mine no issue however when I got the grille insert the sensor cover did come damaged but they sent out a new one right away. Great product love mine!
